Rand them a week ago to renew contracts for me and the missus. Jeez a whole world of pain and still not sorted. I have sent this email below to the world and his wife at o2......

Hi,
Last Saturdary 2/4/2011 i contacted the business section about a new contract for the numbers above. I pay for both, one is with business and the other domestic. What transpired was a series of contacts at o2 none of whom seemed to know what they were talking about. I spent probably 40 minutes being shuttled entirely unneccessarily between business and domestic as they both said it was each others responsibility. Each time I was transferred I had, very frustratingly, to repeat the whole scenario again. Phone number, address, password and a complete description of what I was trying to do.
There seemed to be no transfer of information between staff and some i spoke to clearly had no idea what they were doing.

This long, unhappy episode concluded with a gentlemen who said he could sort it all out from the business side. Eureka!
We agreed on transferring my wifes number to business, a new joint tariff and new phones. These would be invoiced later, the phones would be delivered in 3-4 working days. Great!

Except they didn't turn up....So on friday 8/4 I rang business again. Again I was passed from pillar to post and ended up with a lady in domestic. Clearly we were getting nowhere and i asked to speak to her manager which she was clearly reluctant to do. She declined to give her name or that of her manager. I said to her i was going to end the conversation as we were getting nowhere.

I rang business again straightaway and spoke to Gill.....She tells me that my original contact in business the previous Friday had made all the notes but had done absolutely nothing!! She then said but you need to speak to domestic. Oh jeez here we go again, mercifully i was cut off and had to ring back again. I asked to speak to the manager and was put through to someone called Daniel Semley, the first of 6 or so people who gave his full name. So i explain the sorry sage for the umpteenth time. he says it CAN all be done from business but as nothing had been done he had to start from scratch...
He said he had to fill in a form to port over my wifes number which would take 48hrs. When this was done he would contact me as he was working over the weekend. We could then discuss tariffs and phones.....again.

I have not heard from o2 or Daniel and am extremely unhappy about how i have been dealt with. It seems to me that it should be a simple thing to do. Please sort this out, I have spent over 2 hours on the phone when I thought a 5min call would sort it.

Regards,

Duncan

Find another network???

This is not the first time I've heard nasties concerning 02. I'm coming to the end of my contract with my current network and will be moving to Vodaphone.

I've been with Orange now for 18 years and never had anything like that. I can honestly say that I have always had excellent service from them.
No doubt someone will come along and say not so. But I speak as I find.

I hope you get it resolved. Or better still move network.

Kev.

They are no better - trust me!

Been with them for about 16 years, and never got anything but crap customer service from them

Work this to your favour... tell them you're thinking of letting the contracts lapse and get a better deal on another network (which would probably be cheaper).
Rinse them for what you can

They probably are all the same but my other half has had only good experiences with vodaphone and I'm heartily sick of orange. This is coupled with the fact that I have no signal whatsoever at my house. :(

o2 support was shockingly bad when I used it on our corporate account, so we moved all 400 mobiles to vodafone, which has been significantly better.

I don't think one provider is any better than the other.

I bought my 1st mobile in 1983 and was with Vodafone for 26 years until a few years ago and had huge amounts of grief when renewing my contract so I left and I'm now with O2.

You'd think alarm bells would start ringing if a customer of 26 years wanted to jump ship and move to the competition!

It seems to be all subjective. I think it's just a case of going with whoever and if they turn out to be **** leave when your contract runs out and try someone else.

Hi,
Unfortunately we are in black hole for most providers but do get a good signal from o2. Otherwise the lifeboats would have been launched......

You don't have to leave O2 you just have to threaten to leave, point out that if they don't want the money your trying to give them then one of the other companies will gladly take it off your hands.

I've been with O2 for 20 years (Cellnet originally) and only ever had one problem - and that was when they decided to increase the tariffs significantly assuming all business users want everything! I threatened to leave and they basically said "have a nice day" and didn't really care. What's one small cog in their multiple-billion ££ organisation. Call centre staff are too busy to care.

But I'm still happy with their service and coverage - horses for courses....

Might be an idea to tell them your really thinking of switching networks due to the problem you had.

I had to renew my O2 business contract a few weeks ago and after suggesting I might go to TMobile due to a previous handset replacement issue with O2 (issue sorted ok in the end, but a pain to get there), I got put through to O2 Business Retention Team who waived the £92+vat handset cost and gave me an extra 200mins a month.

Might be worth a go?

its another one of those topics where nobody is happy with at least one provider.

orange for example, a complete load of useless morons
vodafone, cocked my sisters contract

etc etc

to be honest im yet to have issue with O2, personal phone wise im now in my 2nd renewal hassle free. business wise (via our parent company) they also seem pretty good but then i guess they want to keep a contract of a couple hundred blackberrys and BES server happy..

They get nothing but praise from me

its the same with everything though, there will be storeis both good and bad for most companies nowadays

I find it best to use tin cans and string. The service is much better and I can understand the call centre staff.

DOn't orange and o2 now share signal? give orange a call and see what they can do.

Me too but getting the knots out of miles of string, can eat into my retirement!

Anyway, I think it's time for the OP to adopt a more threatening manner.

Can't fault O2 just phoned for upgrade, started at £42 mth, 5 minutes on the phone and down to £27 with free HTC Desire S.

We're in another black spot - Vodafones the only reliable one. I'm pretty happy with their CS, and fairly content with the price I'm paying too.

Still no response to my email.....

What about Tesco who use the O2 network? I don't know if they use the same support team right enough, but maybe worth thinking about if you're getting good reception on O2.

3 were by far my favorite company to deal with, good communication, prices, and information, never an issue with them.

I'm now with Vodafone, not too bad I guess. I hate that the calls texts and data counter isn't instantly updated like it was for 3, but other than that, no big complaints.

Vodafone Business, excellent CS.

Dont just threaten to leave O2, LEAVE! Why would you want to give O2 your hard earned money each month when they cant even be bothered to reply back to your email.

Although it really pis**** me off the way they do the data - I get 500mb per month for my iPhone - always go over and end up spending another fiver a month and I don't browse YouTube, download apps or anything like that! Just fb, TP, email and eBay is all! can't work it out

Still no reply so rang business again..... and spoke to yet another 'advisor' this lady was Ms Efficiency, she was annoyed at how I had been treated! Within 5 mins she had ordered my 2 I4's, given me unlimited texts and free line rental for 4 months and given several apologies for her crap fellow staff!

Today I get a phone call from the 'manager' I spoke to last Friday, he was supposed to ring me back last weekend. I need to organise your phones he said.
Complete ****** I thought he hadn't even checked his own computer before ringing me 5 days late!

DHL tell me I get the phones before 10 on monday.... TP app here i come!

I am with o2 and have nothing but praise,I am into year 4 with them, as for vodafone, that is a totally different matter. They have a deal that was ideal for my daughter so went with them, all was well until Back in early January some lowlife phoned up and changed my billing address and then ordered 3 new contracts and 2 phones, first I new was when vodafone took nearly £700 in February, after several hours on the phone to them I find out what has happened and they start a fraud investigation. 2 weeks later they admit that it was fraudulent and would refund me, many calls later being told it was all sorted and refund had been issued it transpires it hadn't, it took until last week to get it. They set up additional security on my account which they never used until I reminded them to use during the phone calls. Once the contract is up for renewal I will be cancelling and I will never use them again. I didn't even get an apology for the delay.

The end of the story.....had an email from the MD's gofer! They have made a formal apology and offered £100 credit.
