Cheers for the heads up on that. The console is now ok. My son had moved it from the bedroom to the living room. He'd just removed the memory to read out the serial no. and when he replaced it and plugged it back in the red lights were gone. Apparently the memory wasn't located properly. Kids!!!!!!:lol:
Still they're happy now.:):clap:

Seems like Sony are playing catch up with stuff that should have been implemented from the start, pretty much the same as Blu Ray vs HD DVD took them close to 2 years for them to implement web content etc. which also caused a lot of people to need to buy new players to use it. which was included on HD DVD from day one. I know Blu Ray won out in the end and that was mainly because of PS3 users but Sony seem to be getting into a habit of releasing stuff lacking features that should have been there from the beginning and relying on the brand to get customers to buy them.

bluray was rushed out as hddvd had got to market quicker. doesnt bother me not having web enabled content, thats what the internet is for, i want high bitrate picture and sound:D

yes sony are playing catchup, but the ps3 will be around a long time, like the ps2, so the bits and bobs will show up eventually

Nope, not a jot :) I had the choice at christmas to get either a lens or a 360. SO I got a lens :) I then happend to get a lot of money for christmas so decided to buy a 360 instead :) If I got a 360 for christmas then I would be buying me a new lens now :) Either way I would still end up with a 360 :)
 
I'm off out now to buy Prince of Persia for £19 from Argos for mine!! 1/2 price for Xbox and PS3 versions, a bargain for 9.4 IGN rated game - get on it people!! :D

To be honest, the new ones aren't as bad with RRODing. They've fixed the hardware problem now with a new board, Falcon I believe. And I think they've even upgraded that one now to a new board which I can't remember the name of.

And even the new dashboard detects the temperature of the 360 and runs the fans for 15 seconds or so after shutting off if it thinks its necessary.

You should have no problems Matt with your new 360. :)

The new motherboard has onboard memory too, which means the dash board will be faster on the new generation than on the old ones. About time, only took them 2 and a bit years to get the RROD sorted. I still love mine though. I think the new ones also use less power too, due to a new power unit.

Thats the one, Jasper. I'm not saying the 360's are perfect, they are far from perfect. I'm on my 4th console since launch but my Falcon Elite that I've had for a year now has run soundly. Heck, some lucky people even have fully working launch consoles surprisingly! :lol:

Ah really? I didn't know that. I think they've used less power since the Falcon board was introduced.

Of those games Matt, I really rate PGR4 for good fun (but still not as much fun as PGR2 where the cone challenges were much better IMHO). Grid is also good fun with excelllent graphics too.
Was really into Forza 1 but havent got round to trying it on 360 yet.
I buy all my games 2nd hand - much cheaper.

For non-driving games I'm loving Guitar Hero 4 WT (which my wife got me for Crimbo:woot:) - she was even on the drums last night for an hour and she'll usually only ever play Brain Training on the DS.

Oh and speaking of the DS - Soul Bubbles....brill ! :)
 
Forza 2 is class Matt, let me know when you've got Xbox live set up and I'll have a few races with you. I can't wait for RacePro, Simbin games are usually highly realistic, which is what I want in a racing/driving game.

Got my XBOX on Monday (not I didnt post at all yesterday:lol:) It is fantastic. £150 from Zavvi :D 60 GB hard drive. Got PGR4 from Game (£19). Yesterday went to my local gamestation with £40 credit from selling my PS2 and got a £70 XBOX steering wheel whic is just awesome. I also got PGR 3 and forza 2. Forza 2 is one, no sorry, the best game I have ever played on. With the steering wheel it is fantastic.

Got a Golf MK2 GTI for my first car :D Atm, been stripped and better suspension/brakes. Not had anything done to the enigine yeT!

Is it not a wireless router? Get a wireless adaptor for the 360, they can be had for about £40 at the minute in some shops.

I would recommend a pair of Homeplugs (Zyxel are a very reasonable price), a nice secure connection with no issues whatsoever on live.
 
I got these from PC World the other day http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...m=null&tm=null&sku=958225&category_oid=-34584 works great just plug and play straight from router, no need to run cables from room to room. You will get online without no problems.

Also reading through this thread and being a new xbox 360 owner, no one mentioned putting your xbox horizontal instead of standing it up. For some reason my PGR4 got scratched within 24 hours! Got full refund from amazon but not the point. I have also just bought forza 2 from ebay for less than a tenner so used games are the way to go.

You may want to consider getting your drive flashed, so you can play backups *cough* the liteon drives which were not flashable can now be done since about the 23rd of December... Shouldnt cost no more than £20.00

Don't forget that you can install games to the 360's harddrive now, after the last dashboard update/overhaul, and run them from there. It keeps the noise levels down as the DVDDrive isn't constantly whirring away. You still need the disk in the tray but it just spins it for a second or so and then runs from the harddrive.

I have a serious GOW2 addiction at the moment. :)
 
Do MS not ban you from Live if you hack your console? bad idea to play 'backups' if you like Live then...

They are indeed cracking down.

TBH with the price of games from Supermarkets (when on offer) and the plethora of used games why anyone would want to promote piracy is beyond me.
