I am getting myself a XBOX 360!!!!

Can anyone help me with my 360 profiles. When I first got the machine I wasn't online so I created a profile with my name (original I know). Then I used the 1 month trial and had to create an online user id, naturally my name was already gone so I made one up. Somehow this ended being a new profile so now my machine has two profiles. Now then, Forza2 didn't work online with the trial period so all my forza gaming was done on my name profile and I now have a healthy sized garage and a wedge in the bank. However, COD4 did work with the trial period of LIVE so all my rankings and weapons are on that profile.

I finally got the full membership for xmas and set it up the other day. Because of the COD4 thing I associated the LIVE gold with the online profile but it seems that the live thing can only be attached to one profile which I think is a scam, it should be per machine. If my wife used the xbox and had her own profile there's no way I'd pay for two subscriptions. Is there a way to transfer all of my cars from my name profile to the other profile so that I don't have to start again or is there a way to associate my gold LIVE membership with the other profile?

Of course it matters if your xbox randomly scartches your discs :bonk:

its not random, all 1st gen models will do it, and a fair few second, if you move the console with a disk spinning it will scratch. The Xbox360 was rushed to get market share, that worked, but the reputation as an unreliable heap hasnt helped. over 30% fail rate on the 360 is no joke.

I wasn't referring to the scratching of discs I was referring to the positioning of the 360. :bang:

There is absolutely no firm evidence that placing the 360 either horizontally or vertically makes things any worse or better. In your experience it is one thing, that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. ;)

i now have a ps3 i might trade in my ps2 for an xbox 360. lol then i got all the consoles

Between them my sons have PS One, PS2, PS3, XBox, XBox360, Wii, with 3 TV'stoplay them on and a PSP each and they still fight over them.

Just remember Matt when you get your driving licence NOT to drive like you would in those computer games!!! Don't want you barging other motorists out of the way or thinking there isn't a speed limit!!!

 Might try drifiting the FIesta I learn to drive in round a bend just to scare my instructor :lol:

May i add, that you're blocking the biggest air vent if you're standing it up vertical. Turn it on, leave it horizontal, then put your hand over the end opposite to the hard drive, and feel how much air is being drawn through once the xbox is up to working temp. You'll then never put it vertical again.

As has been said before, it makes no difference whether its vertical or horizontal. The 360 has 2 big fans at the back anyway and a small vent on the top. The new ones don't make as much heat as the older ones do anyway.

I've had my last 2 XBoxes (I exchanged it for an Elite last year, not because it was broken :p) standing vertical and they have both been absolutely fine. You have nothing to worry about.

matt you are a plank, for many reasons, but specifically this time for buying a 360.

Get a lens.
or
Get a PS3, it wont melt, the games are as good and getting better,

PS3's are not reliable either, mine died on Christmas eve, 6months old - will take Sony up to 28 days to fix it :(

I've got a 1st gen 360 thats been standing vertically since the day I bought it and hasn't scratched a single disc. The only scratching I have heard is from when people move from vertical to horizontal whilst the machine is on and the disc is spinning, which I wouldnt do on any machine.

Fair enough but all I know is my game got scratched within 24 hours and it was verticle. I never moved it whilst it was on or off, maybe just a one off but since I have put mine flat.

thats unfortunate, but you cant say PS3 is unreliable just cos a tiny percent (below average for electronic equipment apparently)fail. the Wii is the same, hardly any fails, where as the Xbox is 1 in 3! Sony should repair faster though

id buy an xbox 360 to play the games but at the moment its hard to get thru the day let alone work. but i really want one just for the game fable 2, lol otherwise i lurve my ps 3, coz i can play that from in bed. so i dont have to get all dizzy getting up lol i love remote controlled controllers

27 but the health of a 70 year old due to my abuse of my body

Good on you dude, I love my 360!

Just a heads up though, dont get the new NFS, it's utterly gash.

GRID is a good driving game ;)

Is it not a wireless router? Get a wireless adaptor for the 360, they can be had for about £40 at the minute in some shops.

Current price is £29.99 in Game if you buy any other piece of xbox hardware like a quick charge kit of £34.99 in Gamestation by itself

I can say the PS3 is unreliable as fact is mine is bust, and phoning Sony today wasn't encouraging, when I asked how come its taking so long I was told its due to bust machines and they have a back log!

I have a Xbox 360 and a Wii and never had any problems with them.

Just be warned Matt, Forza 2 will take over your life :)
I played it almost every day for nearly a year, almost forgot what my wife looked like ;)

For the past year i've mainly played all the Guitar Hero games and Rock Band which means she can play too :)

Anybody feel free to add my gamertag PAUL I970 (that's a capital i not a 1)

Paul

I'm KINGOFPRESTWICH if anyone fancies a race/game of FIFA/sawn in half on GOW2!! :D

lol so you have a bust PS3 ergo ALL ps3 unreliable..

Sony will have ps3, dvd, tv and all other stuff going through the repair center.

The internet is a wonderful place, if the ps3 was a crock of crap like the 360 it would be all over it, fact is, it isnt. In fact reading around seems to show that if a ps3 is sent away cos its ill it does come back quicker than 28 days, so fingers crossed that you too get yours back.

I have 2 Wiis, both are rock solid. I dont have a 360 yet, still waiting for the kinks to be ironed out.

GRID is fantastic Matt, get it.

To be fair the PS3 has not been out anywhere as long as the 360...:)

thats true, but 360s have been dying in high numbers since release, if it wasnt scratching disks it was overheating, even the early units had power units recalled due to safety risks!:|

true a friend of mine has had 3 xbox 360's since they came out
