Hozelock connector keeps coming off

On a serious note @Daverkl when you've finished with the hose do you release the pressure on the hose gun? These connectors can pop off when put under constant pressure - when you have water going through they are not pressurised as the water is flowing. When you stop the water in the hose wants to escape and can push the connector off.

When I've finished watering I don't squeeze the trigger on the gun to empty any water in it. But the thing can pop off 3-4 times while I'm using it.
 
Have you tried it with the tap not being turned on a as high, reducing overall pressure?

The route cause does sound like the connectors being faulty as this hasn't happened to me except when there is excess pressure in the system.
 
Yes, tried it with the tap not fully on.

I've had this for 2 years, last year it started so I bought all new connectors for it, now it's doing it again. When the connectors where new I can't remember it doing it.... might be wrong though, can't remember that far back :confused:
 
Maybe a stupid question but did you replace both parts of the connector? Male & Female.
I have hozelock connectors going to an outside tap, when the tap is off there is full mains pressure to the connector but it does not come off, it leaks sometimes though

Yes, all parts :)

I put in extra pta tape to stop the leak like you are getting.
 
Just called Hozelock and they are sending me out new connectors and the center part of the reel for free :)

As they were so helpful I said I've got problems with my car, house and cash income too :naughty:
