I just purchased a 300 f/4 non IS USM prime lens. Lens is sharp, so no problems with that. Only down side of the lens is that the hood is loose. As it is a pre IS lens, and therefore pretty old, the friction it relied on in the past is gone. The hood will move whenever you tilt the lens either up or down.
Is there any way to remove the hood and fix this ? Does Canon (or any other firm) still repair these lenses ? And if so what kind of ballpark figure I should be thinking of ?
Any help appreciated,
Erik
