how ridiculous is this lens?

hi all

while reading another thread a guessing game the sigma 200-500mm f2.8 came up and all i can say is what a beast of a lens it is but somewhat ridiculous i also feel, hardly portable is it? can you imagine the size of the tripod needed to hold it? dont get me wrong it is probably a really handy lens for people who would need that but they have also probably got a dedicated team to support and carry it aswell lol, also what is the autofocus speeds going to be like? LINKY

so its for wildlife toggers im guesing then? but then still surely the sigmonster has a greater range on that? but im guesing the f2.8 aperture is the major appeal that goes with the 200-500mm?

Saw the lens in green at the Focus on Imaging at the NEC last year. Believe me it IS huge, it would need a second person just to carry it to a shoot.
