How many people ...

That haz nothin to do wid spellin and grammer though. You can be the worlds wurst at spellin and be hopeles wid grammer, but still make it aparent dat you fully understand, and hav red the previous post, and tht u have thought about wat you are writin.

Are you old enough to remember the Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch where Pamela Stephenson is charicaturing Janet Street-Porter as she interviews Billy Connolley? Priceless.

yes... classic sketch :)

That's about inarticulacy though... not spelling. Very poor grammar can effect a reading I suppose... but it has to be very bad. SPelling errors can be anything though, from dyslexia to laziness in typing.

(over held shift key left in to make a point :))

Sometimes I copy/paste things to the forum too. Does that count as cloning?

I can put up with poor speeling and bad grammer to a degree but what really makes me stop reading posts is when people ramble on and on without using any punctuation for paragraph after paragraph except that there are no paragraphs and the whole lot is one huge mess of words with no means of knowing where one sentence ends and the next starts or if they have moved on to talk about something different to what they started writing about in the first place then they get all shirty when you suggest they try to use punctuation or at least split their thoughts up so you can make sense of them I mean it's not that they're James Joyce or anything they're usually just waffling about something inane it's as if the return and shift keys on their keyboard are bust and they've forgotten where the full stop and comma are they don't even bother putting in a smiley or two break things up they just keep on typing

If i generally know someone struggles with spelling i have no problem with it, it's when people use words like 'wiv' 'wud' etc etc ..when you know someone can spell but they 'choose' to use text speak

Yup urgh that too.. when i used to go back home for a night out my friend used to keep saying it just to bug me ( she says it at all the time) :banghead:

It's just an internet forum. Most people just can't be arsed correcting typos or auto correct mistakes. So long as your message is clear, stop worrying about it.

Unless its about art and then regardless of whether it is well written it often is still unclear :) lol

There is room for different opinions, yes. As you describe it above, you would not be criticising a poster's ability to read, understand and respond thoughtfully though... you'd just be picking them up on spelling and grammar.

Did you take that from one of your students. lol

LOLZ!!!!11 Me homies are cool wid tha photos and shizzle!... word!

involved in some tedious activity away from the house or work
The only tedious activity I do away from the house IS work. If I'm going to be bored, I expect to get paid.

I tend to use my phone to post as often I'm sat on the sofa next to a beer and the laptop is 10 feet away.

Never. .... I only use a telephone for making and receiving voice calls. Any functions beyond that are of no interest to me. Actually, I'll amend that. The alarm clock function has been useful on overnight stops while travelling.
Thats how it all starts. First the alarm. Next you'll like SMS and Whatsapp. And before you know it you'll be sharing naked selfies from the bath!

Me: 50%-50%. Smartphone+App to PC.

I never access the Internet from my mobile. Can't be bothered on such a small screen.
The trick is to use the TP App. The small screen is fine with the app. Except if someone posts a picture with a huge border like recently in the B&W thread. And posting photo links from Flickr is a pain as the Flikr app does not create BBCode like in a browser. Unless someone knows a trick.

Sometimes a letter is the best way to communicate. Sometimes an email. Sometimes the internet. Sometimes a phone call and sometimes an SMS is the best.
