Hi Thought I'd start this topic for fun lol, out of interest, how has Photography changed you? Since getting the photo bug lol,I've opened my eyes alot more to wildlife and nature around us, I appreciate whats around us more. Since getting into Wildlife Photography, I've learnt more about the birds in the garden and when I go travelling I always take my camera with me lol, I could never go travelling or on days trips without it, I'd be lost without my camera lol.

It's left me with a depleted bank balance and my left shoulder lower than the right one from carrying the Tripod!

First got "the bug" while still at school, many moons ago.
*** i must say-the (recent) aquisition of a Digital SLR has REALLY got me back into it all.. (but without turning a room into a Darkroom this time)
Once again,i find myself viewing practically everything with a view to perhaps getting a shot.
Most of the real interesting shots i ever got were when i wasnt expecting it-Oppurtunities just...Crop up! (Scuse' the pun :P)
Ok-So it DOES hit the wallet a tad,and drives the wife nuts...But-Its worth it!
(hoping for first L series soon-Wait til she see's the bill for that...lol!)
Must get a pic of her reaction.. :)

I find that I am out and about much more than I used to be, which is nice. I also have opened my eyes ALOT more than I ever used to - I notice birds, insects and stuff that used to pass me by.

Ohh, I have to take the husband out with me too ............................ There's always one bad point :D

:agree:

It has opened my eyes to things I hadn't seen before and it is also an intrest both the wife and my self enjoy together.

I've been into photography for 30+ years but never so much as the last 3 since the advent (for me) of digital. I 'see' now like I never have before - every place I visit, everywhere I travel I am much more aware of what is around me and is a potential image (if you've seen my Homebase and B&Q shots you'll know what I mean :D).

Sounds a bit obsessive when I put it like that but it feels good :D

Oh yes and its made me two things: poorer financially :) and some great friend on here

It's made me realise that Wedding Togs are vastly overpaid and have egos to suit......

:runaway:

I can't drive any where without thinking 'ooh, that would make a great location', and I average 3 hrs sleep a night when I have a shoot the next day.

I'm also a little better off thanks to some freelancing :)

Changed my perception of things around me. I see potential images in subjects I wouldn't have dreamed of even looking at before I got into photography. It's unlocked a creative side of me I didn't know existed and made me appreciate the world with new eyes :)

It has brought back the creativity I had when at school / collage which was squashed by University and then 9 - 5 working life. It has given me more enthusiasm and get up and go on the weekends and in the evenings after work - I feel much more productive and have a sense of achievement about something other than work.

In a way I think it has made me more confident and purposful generally - I have less time to worry and have something to take my mind off of the stresses at work.

Like everyone else I look at things more closely now and see places as photo op's far more...

On the whole I think this hobby is good for me! :)

I also spend quite a lot of time browsing a certain photography forum now...

It is my "new" form of hunting/shooting. I no longer have much interest in shooting/trapping/hunting things, well, still a bit in all honesty,I prefer to "catch" them on camera now rather down the barrel.

It's given me a new way of looking at everything that goes on around me and shown me a creativity I didn't realise I had.
I'm also skint!

I have realised I never ever want to work in an office doing a 9-5 again :)

made me look at things more, I'm allways thinking about pictures, usually carrying a camera

and skint

my right arm is now slightly larger than my left. and i tend to walk around leaning slightly to one side.
i often see stuff and think "why havent i got a camera with me?"
or see someone else shooting something and thinking
"why havent they seen THAT shot?"
i probably should get out more.

I use to have a hobby of BMX's but stopped this.
This is now my hobby and you can get out so much more and just look at views and appreciate them were as i wouldnt of before.

it's given me an outlet for my creativity, made a massive dent in my bank balance and has made me more observant... and then I discovered TP, which can only be a good thing :D

a slight downside is that my friends now know I'm an obsessive and tend to sigh loudly when I get the camera out at every opportunity, lol!

I now have a spare bedroom that looks like a branch of Jessops

I wouldn't worry too much mate, my bro will most likely end up taking the lot

Aye, I'll never go back to my previous jobs, fun as they were, I'm very happy doing what I love and I can't wait to learn more and more!

I think the main changes involve frame of mind, approach and generally exercising the imagination and creativity 'muscle' much more.

TP has helped an awful lot, I love living in Finland but there aren't that many people I can communicate with in this kind of way, sometimes I really wish I could make a meet sometime.

Its made me even more miserable as I've simply found something else I'm no good at .

I have found clouds and trees! yes and the family think I am sad:)

well, it didn't change me really.

I CHANGED PHOTOGRAPHY.

no, im not that self centered....

It helped me with alot of things, too much detail to get into, but it did make me SMILE:)

Hi Im sure that isn't true, everyone has something they are good at, before I got into Photography, I didn't think I was good at anything lol, Photography has been good for my confidence because I've found something I enjoy :)

Well I get out more which the missus really likes, loads of long country walks etc.

I know the moment when I realised I'd caught the photography bug though, I was walking back to train station in town and saw a big pile of rubbish and thought to myself "what fantastic colours"

Hi Same here lol, my friends and family can definitely tell Im obsessed with photography, I always get excited if Im going in the garden to photograph the birds or going on photography day trips, normally I scream with excitement (Im surprised the neighbours don't hear me) if I get an email from the magazine team from Digital Photographer magazine lol (asking if they can use my pictures in the magazine?) :)

I realised it was something I'd always really wanted to do and I find myself looking at things differently as well, I notice more about my surrounds than I ever used to and I get out more in my bike so I can go and take photos :D

Has photography somehow confused you into thinking that full stops have been replaced with "lol"?
Sorry if that seems harsh but it really does make it hard/annoying to read posts that have "lol" at the end of every sentence lol....

Repeat after me:
"I am not on MSN, I am not on MSN, I am not on MSN"......
