Just curious as I can't work out a pattern to what it decides is interesting or not from my collection.

No one knows apart from the panda, and he ain't saying. It's one of the mysteries of flickr.

It's not a mystery, I read an article not long ago that fully explained it but I can't find it now.

It's mainly a case of how many comments and favourites you get without having too many tags and you must have EXIF data - there are quite a few other facets to it like whether you've added a photo to a group known for people trying to get comments and favourites.

I have no idea, the one I'd love to have an answer to is how photos get explored, I have seen people that it seems every other one of there photos have been explored, and with out sounding bitter some of them are utter rubbish :bang:

Obviously comments and favorites come into it but flickr won't say exactly how, and they always make out that there is other secret sauce involved that they won't talk about. You might have read an article where someone speculated on exactly how they did it, but unless they've changed thier mind in the last six months (I haven't checked) they wont say exactly how it is calculated.

I'm mostly curious since I have a few photos that people have favourited and otehrs with comments etc, yet when ranked by interestingness, Flickr counts a shot with fewer views and no comments as more interesting? They're also not the ones I'd persoanlly describe as the most interesting in my library!

Flcikriver Is just a plugin for flickr that displays a stream of images. They can be sorted by add date, interestingness, by set, by specific tag or at random.

Since it is all linked in direct to Flickr, I would guess it uses Flickr's own interestingness algorithm.
