Obviously comments and favorites come into it but flickr won't say exactly how, and they always make out that there is other secret sauce involved that they won't talk about. You might have read an article where someone speculated on exactly how they did it, but unless they've changed thier mind in the last six months (I haven't checked) they wont say exactly how it is calculated. It's not a mystery, I read an article not long ago that fully explained it but I can't find it now.
It's mainly a case of how many comments and favourites you get without having too many tags and you must have EXIF data - there are quite a few other facets to it like whether you've added a photo to a group known for people trying to get comments and favourites.
Just curious as I can't work out a pattern to what it decides is interesting or not from my collection.![]()
How do you find out the interestingness?
Found it - "The Unfairness of Flickr's Explore Page".
Though this one more heavily quotes the engineer - "What It Takes to Get Your Photo on the Flickr Explore Page"
I presume the interestingness for Explore is the same as for your own stats rankings.
Flickriver/Interesting as opposed to recent etc
That info is old. Flickr updates the rules regularly.
Users are now penalised if a photo is added to too many groups, for example.
