I'm a bit older than you, nearly 60. I don't remember fax machines in everyday use before the 1980s
I cannot remember the last time I read a newspaper (fond memories of black fingers, and that smell of the newsprint).
I have worked for BT since 1975 and didn't see fax machines until the early 80's
The first fax machine was invented by Scottish mechanic and inventor Alexander Bain. In 1843, Alexander Bain received a British patent for improvements in producing and regulating electric currents and improvements in timepieces and in electric printing and signal telegraphs, in laymen's terms a fax machine.
ah so the mondeo in the posh frock, is not ideal!!!![]()

Might you have been referring to Telex machines, they were very popular for sending lots of written information
What that link doesn't say is the telephone fax machine was first introduced in 1964 by Xerox.
As has been pointed out, that's the X-Type! The XF is based on the S-Type IIRC but is far better looking!
The old Picasso was more practical but thirstier, far less comfortable, noisier etc - the lack of practicality is a very small price to pay...

My parents are 55 and barely know how to work a nokia 1100 each. They basically live in the 80/90s!
You appear to have confused me with someone who "gives a *&^%"

I don't think that you've thought that comment through very well!
They must be a bit more advanced than the rest of us then, because they know how to operate a time machine
You I presume are a 14 year old who knows everything about anything![]()

I can remember when you could fall off a bouncy castle and hundreds of thousands of people worldwide wouldn't know about it!![]()

Quite agree. Its hard for people around 40 or so to imagine things differently now..... Just remain amazed at some of the subjects started up in oof and similar bits on other fora!
I suppose it's all relative to what people feel they need to know and if someone can help with first hand experience You'll find people from all walks of life and different experiences so your likely to get an answer or suggestions. Just like these examples.
