Any ideas please people, I wanted a hood for my EF-S 60mm macro but couldn't face Canon's exorbitant prices (I coughed up for genuine hoods for lenses I use most frequently) so I got a Chinese copy for a quarter of the price. It fits well and is solidly made but doesn't have the 'velvet' coating on the inner surface that the other hoods have, does anyone know if there is any kind of spray paint/whatever to coat the inside with. If they made the fake spray snow in black that would do a treat :) I doubt that it's majorly important as the lens doesn't suffer overmuch from flare and the inner surface is pretty dull but I feel like experimenting.

PS. I did try a search but it's a pretty odd question and couldn't hit on any suitable previous threads

Blackboard paint. It's matt and pretty robust!

My Sigma lens is pretty well made and doesn't have a furry inside! I'd have thought any non reflective material or paint would do. On rally cars they put a suade patch over the dashboard to stop potential sun reflections distracting the driver- maybe chop up some old suade flares or something

You could get some thin self adhesive black felt from a craft shop.

I'm pretty sure you can buy a black "flock" spray - art supply shops would be the best place to try.

Ta for all the suggestions folks, flock was the exact word I was searching for, other half is off to a craft superstore tomorrow to stock up on her embroidery supplies so I'll get her to take a look.

The only thing with flock is it has a habbit of getting loose and dusty- as you know camera glass attracts the stuff so you may be continuously taking the hood off to wipe flecks of flock etc off the front element!

:agree:
Could be more trouble than it's worth!

You can get Fabalon type sticky back plastic which had a velvet finish to it

Have a badge! I wondered how long it would take for someone to sugest that!
