Hmmmmmmmmmm. Pic added.

bloody foxes eh :suspect: im always having to kick them out of the house

Got to be honest... that was my first thought too....

Suburban foxes.... doing that? :suspect:

Country foxes are very wary of humans, can`t imagine why........:suspect:

Perhaps the town foxes are not so wary, perhaps they are getting used to being fed by people and have lost that natural suspicion of humans?

I dunno. But I do know they are carniverous predators.

Yip - got to wonder whether they get used to being fed and when they turn up and don't get fed aggression appears.

Leave wild animals to be wild.

(BTW my comments do not relate to the case in the news. Don't know what happened there as yet.)

Thank goodness we don't have to worry about rabies in this country. In many countries this sort of attack could be the sign of an infected animal.

We have in the past had urban foxes dumped round here, how do I know, because I've seen it happen on early morning walks with the dogs.
They aren't equipped to survive in the wild so move into the nearest village and forage, we know they aren't our rural ones as they have absolutely no fear of humans, just look at you and carry on raiding bins etc.

when they ban guns these sort of attacks will be happening everywhere

i did a big hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm as well when i heard it on the radio

Rather than let an interesting topic, well it is for some of us, drift into the detrious of OOF, I have added a pic.

Can we move it back now please?.............:D

no, its unrelated to photography, though it is an interesting discussion point.

I see urban foxes quite often near my studio, they're common here and go into the local park - not surprising as the ducks for some reason tend to sleep around the edge of the lake instead of on the island in the middle of it...

The ones I've seen always run for it as soon as they see me, so their behaviour is pretty much the same as the rural ones we have on our land - cautious and with plenty of survival instinct.

On our land, we have 2 families that we know of, one, on the far side, has never caused any problems and we leave them well alone. Another family took out all of our hens and had to be dealt with.

I'm amazed at this report of babies being attacked by a fox, simply because I've never know a fox to go anywhere near a human. But maybe it thought the babies were something other than human, in which case I'm surprised that either of them survived, given their propensity to attack from above and take out lambs, cats, rabbits, rats etc instantly.

what i can't believe is that the parents were sleeping with either a main window or door open

Jeez, we sleep with all our windows open, all year round.................

Thats what I thought....fighting dog or the like. And they knew it would be put down if it was found.

Sad thing is, if it is a pet dog, then a fox was put down today for no reason whatsoever, which is very sad :(

The back door and french doors are open whenever anyone is in the house in the summer, until everyone is in bed

That happens here, but they tend to end up in the gamekeeper's snares.

We keep our front door not only closed but locked even during the day when we are home. The back door stays open but we have a german shepherd in the garden. There have been a lot of robberies over the last few years of people having their cars stolen off their driveway as most people tend to leave their keys hanging up by the front door - it happened to my boss.

Awful incident - but my first thought was " hmmmmm"

Did anyone else apart from Mum see this fox and has it been definitely confirmed to be a fox attack? Could it possibly have been a stray dog?

It's quite common to see urban foxes now even in town centres, partcularly at night when they scavenge rubbish bins etc., but I've never heard of a fox entering a house like this.

I've heard of urban foxes entering houses, it's attacking humans that I find surprising

I wonder if some misguided people in the area have been feeding them which for me would go some way to explaining it.

It's a worldwide problem of epic proportions. Tally Ho!

From The Times (Murdoch owns Fox  :suspect: )

"In July last year a fox is believed to have attacked a baby boy, cutting his head as he lay asleep next to his mother at Dartford, Kent. It was shot dead after it kept returning and prowling around the back garden. In July this year a fox attacked a girl aged nine in Sidcup, South London. The horrified girl woke to find the animal baring its teeth at the end of her bed. The fox bit her several times on her feet."

Heck, we're not even in "July this year". You read it here/there first!

I don't know what happened, but I'll be interested to hear a verified version of events.

Thought yesterday it sounded weird - so fox wanders into house, wanders upstairs and like a homing pigeon heading straight for the children's room - not stopping on the way to explore the downstairs and maybe kitchen.

Having dealt with both urban and rural foxes, I am not convinced by this tail "tale",
This fox is clever enough to walk in through the patio doors, then up the stairs, find
the sleeping babies and then maul them?
And an hour later stoopid enough to walk into a "live trap" ? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

And those of us of a certain age will remember the Dingo that "apparently" stole a baby.

They are however dangerous in some instances :D

And I thought that I was the only cynic:suspect:

Brilliant pic - love it!
And it's good to see that Charlie is safety concious, with the bolt back - but why is he using a .243 to shoot rabbits, that's a fox rifle:)

Haven't looked at the story closely but my ex's old house had doors open all the time it was sunny and that included when the house was empty and we were at work!

There are still some safe area's around and yes it was the back door lol, never had a problem.
