Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I couldn't see one that was more appropriate
When I plug my D50 into my computer via the USB cable, I get an error message which says "USB device not recognized. Your USB device has malfunctioned..."
It happens on both my computers (Windows Vista and XP) so I think it must be a camera problem rather than a computer problem. It also happens on both Mass Storage mode and PTP mode. Apart from this my camera works fine and I can upload my photos using a card reader, but I'd like to try some tethered shooting but unfortunately this problem stops me from doing so.
Does anyone have any idea why this problem occurs and if there's anything I can do to fix it? I've searched a number of forums and google to no avail, the Nikon website doesn't yield any answers either so it doesn't seem like a common problem
Thanks and apologies if I haven't provided enough info.
