Hi All
Just thought i would introduce myself and say hello. Have taken the plunge into the world of SLR photography, used to do a bit as a child but nothing major and have over the last 10 years or so just used compacts for snapping. So really I'm a new be to the world of photography. After much research and deliberation I got the canon 40d with the 17 - 85mm lens for the cash I got for my 30th birthday last month so am now setting out on my photographic journey. I'm having some lessons with a local photographer/ teacher to help me get the basics but any advice to a new comer would be greatly appreciated. particularly on essential kit, and things the more experienced photographers on here did which think benefitted them as they started out
I don't know where my journey will take in terms of the type of photography I'll get more passionate about. I have a passion for sport (Rugby, cricket, football in the main) and already have a desire to explore this but understand that good long lenses are needed and don't come cheap, so any advice on starting out in this field would be greatly appreciated too.
I'm really excited about what I've learnt so far and what lies ahead, and what I have seenon this site. I can see this site as somewhere I'll be visiting a lot and hopefully posting some pictures on here for your critique (if I have the confidence to).
Thanks
