Heat.

If my mum ever called me Christopher, I knew I was in the poo :D

I was always called 'Dale', couldn't be shortened or lengthened really.

I was called something else if I was in the poo.

My Ma always called me Georgie except when I was in trouble, then it was George, My Pa always called me George or Son regardless of the situation.

Light overcast here, and looking cool but not cold. Feeling a bit ropey from the cold and late night, so haven't ventured out yet.

Light cloud here also, 5oC
.
Another year and and another weather front moving in, early evening.
More wet stuff.

Happy new year weather watchers (y)

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.

Colder than of late here, 6-C at 07-00 and about the same now. Reasonably bright with light winds and no rain yet.

It's a cold one but not quite freezing here. Clear, starry skies, with the odd cloud and 3 degrees.

I love nights like this, hardly a sound to be heard outside, the odd car going through and the river, not far away.

Its been raining quite hard for the last 3 odd hours

12-C here at the moment, very dull and raining quite steadily, windy with a yellow warning of high winds on the way.

10oC calm, and raining hard, It looks like its been raining most of the night, and more forecast.

Who's got money on a hose pipe ban in the summer?

and all is calm again...............

Cloudy, dry though, no wind and 6 degrees, quite a pleasant morning.

Re summer hosepipe ban .With all this rain so far, the reservoirs should be full so we should be ok.
I do like having information to go with posts wherever possible ...... :)

A copy/paste. "At the end of November 2023: Reservoirs in London were 87% full (87% full in West London and 88% full in Lee Valley), which is above average for the time of year. Farmoor Reservoir in Oxfordshire was 97% full, which is above average for the time of year.

Another weather warning for us,I see https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/cheltenham-news/met-office-issues-double-weather-9007103

11C here. The heavy rain has gone through and will be clear by 1.00pm but what of these high winds forecast ? The trees are barely moving. They got it wrong a couple of days ago so maybe it will just be a bit blowy. I don't think they're due until mid-afternoon. I'm glad it will all be through by this evening, though, as most people have overflowing recycle boxes which go out this evening. We have lids but most people don't use them..if they have them. Next door has so many plastic boxes and tins that their recycle box is overflowing and there's a pile of plastic boxes and tins on the ground next to it. The bin men won't take anything that's not in a council green recycle box. At least, just post Christmas, they will take large pieces of cardboard that won't go in the paper/cardboard blue bag. I still think I'll be on "litter duty" in the morning. I have two litter-pickers (one presented to me by a near neighbour ...an American..when he left to go back to the US...lol, so that makes it easier. If I'm honest, it annoys me a bit that it's only myself that picks up litter. I was talking about litter to one of my neighbours a while ago and instaed of saying he'd do his bit outside his home he just said it was a good job we have poeople like me  I also remove litter from the wide grass verge opposite. I can't go the full length of the road but do half-way. I've never seen anyone else do it apart from a litter-picker from the council now and then.

It's about 10 degrees here in Oxfordshire, and raining steadily. The Cherwell valley by us is heavily flooded right now, with water running over the road several inches deep. This is how it used to be when we moved here more than 30 years ago.

See my signature for a more detailed explanation for my post (y)

It seems there has been an amber warning for winds here.
Its still calm ( so far) but still hissing down.

I think the high winds are to come sometime this afternoon. I'm sure they will as they've named this one, Henk.

Sounds serious https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/jan/02/met-office-uk-weather-warning-storm-henk-britain

Mullion Cove, SW Cornwall. It's about 4 miles from Lizard Point

Around 12°C here at the moment. Alternating between persisting down and sunshine, with occasional bouts of both at the same time. Quite gusty at times too.

The rain quit a couple of hours ago, now its back with a vengeance,
being driven by 25 mph winds, gusting to 49 mph.

It's very windy outside this afternoon. Nuts.

Just home from work, lots of local roads under water, was going to grab a photo, but only have my phone, it's dark and the rain is sideways.

It's calmed down a bit here now, no rain either.

Well, that was something and nothing. Not much wind, not that much rain. Exeter airport rercorded gusts of 80mph and a very rough English Channel so, I assume the brunt of storm Henk was further south of us.

At least there's no wind now as everyone has their open plastic/tin recycle bins out.

Pretty quiet here, just had a rain shower. A little gusty, to about 30mph. It's not cold, 8 degrees.

Enjoyed the dog walk tonight.

8oC and still calm here.

9-C here at the moment, dull with a light breeze and no rain as yet.

6 degrees and it was a chilly night, I heard the radiators creak a few times through the night, meaning the heating had come on.

It's breezy just now and no rain. Cloudy.

About 8-9 here, was murky and damp, but there was some sunshine a few min ago. The floods have gone down a bit as well, which isn't a bad thing.

8.5 here according to the car, but that breeze is chilly.
I'd guesstimate a 3 or 4oC with the wind chill
The sky is clearing, and chilly nights ahead going on the forecast 0 down to -2.
No rain forecast for a week.
Yeah right!

11-C now but the rain has started on & off and the winds are beginning to get quite strong.

I guess they'll close the Harbour entrance off soon as it's difficult to manoeuvre in & out with strong winds without colliding with other vessels.

They said no rain.
They lied, its hissing down.

Not here, yet.
Its all but stopped here, looking at the map, it seems you are in dry spot.
There are patches above and below you. You maybe lucky and miss it

6-C here at 05-30, warmed up a bit now its 8-C just partly cloudy with a light wind. Looking at the forecast we're in for a bit of a battering later on.

Light, broken cloud here. About 6-8 degrees.
