20 mph winds, just abut double figuers and as predicted, here comes the rain.
 
Next door's bin went over just before I went to bed last night so I stuck a bungee over the top (no spillage!) and left it nose to wind, laid over. Wind had dropped by this morning so stood it back up - bin men left both bungees beside the bins after emptying.
 
Grey and meh today, showers, blustery with broken clouds and gusting to about 40mph. Currently 7 degrees.

I just washed our yard down with the hose, my hands are now going through the tingly stage after being numb.
 
It's pretty quiet at the moment, just a little breezy. Currently dry and bright, 5 degrees.

No heat here. :LOL:

It's comfortable indoors though, 17 degrees.
 
9-C at 07-00 and now up to 11-C at 11-30, bright with no rain yet and a gentle breeze. At the moment it's really quite a pleasant day.

It was really dark here up to 1045. Cars had headlights on and we had lights on in the house. It's 7C. It's brightened up now. 1230.

We've had a severe weather warning for Gloucestershire (also South Wales) re wind from 11.00am tomorrow through to Sunday 3.00am. Better get the shopping done early. It's not been named,though which is surprising considering the wind speed forecast..60-80mph. I watched a forecast yesterday..not the regular BBC News, and torrential rain is forecast, too. The central pressure of the Low is currently very low at 973. Our region always takes the brunt of storms when the Low is centred over Ireland and moves east over the UK sparing the North the worst of it.

Just seen this. They have named it. "Henk". It's being described as a "weather bomb". Ie the central pressure dropping more than 24mb in 24 hours..which is how it's got to 973mb.It's brought about by the Jet Stream and you can see why. It's directly over the UK .

"Collected" a bumble bee on my ride on Tuesday. Glad I had the visor down rather than just the dark insert!
 
The sky is clearing now, but for the last hour, it was black as night, and absolutely hissing down
 
5oC 15 mph winds, chilly, feels more like zero or less, no fog obviously.
 
10-C here at the moment with quite high winds, but no rain yet. I've been out at the seafront since about 07-00 trying to catch some wave type snaps but have now retreated to my favourite fast food joint for some breakfast.
 
I'm confused. Ventusky says we have 3cm of snow falling and .5cm cover. I've not seen a flake today yet. Met Office says we have drizzle. We don't but there is a very light mist in the air, probably because of our proximity to the river.

It's actually quite calm, the odd noticeable gust of wind but probably peaking at around 20mph. It is cold though, 1 degree. The heating kicked in several times overnight.
 
The car said it was 8.5 a bit earlier.
No wind, but its damp, grey and drizzling :(

The Met Office got it wrong down here,too. We've had barely any rain,it was 15 minutes of drizzle at 8.30am. It's just getting a bit blowy now..3.30pm .The radar shows we won't get any rain until 5 -5.30pm. The warning yesterday was from 11.00am to 3.00am tomorrow morning. It isn't even a named storm as was reported. It's not the first time, recently, they've got it wrong,sometimes the area sometimes the timing. Re the "weaqther bomb". The media do like a bit of drama and often hype up Met Office reports.

The Met Office chief forecaster said: "An active cold front will move east across England and Wales during Saturday and into Sunday and will be characterised by strong winds and some heavy rain. Gusts of 45-50 mph widely, but squally near the cold front with some gusts around 60 mph, whilst the strongest gusts are likely near coasts in the west and south, with 65-75 mph in places."

Have to see what 5.00pm brings. Heavy rain for sure but winds of 60-80mph ? I don't think so. That was the original forecast., I see that's downgraded to 45-50mph and 60mph gusts in places near the cold front. I've brought the plant pots inside anyway. :)

It's the same with road signs re directions. My wife will say "What's that sign say ? " Sometimes I'll say, "I don't know I can't hear it above the car /road noise": :D

I wonder what translations are in other languages. ? I'll bet they don't use "to say". I can't imagine a German saying "Was Sagt das Schild ?...lol. (Schild meaning sign)

As you know, we have many roundabouts here, (we breed them for other less fortunates places)
It was some years ago that the driving instructors stopped saying "and straight across the roundabout"
As it seems, they were being taken literally by some.

25 mph winds, and it's absolutely lashing it down. Its set to get worse over the next couple of hours.
 
We drove back from Birmingham this evening. Lots of standing water on the motorway and side roads, heavy rain all the way. About 6 degrees.
 
9-C here this morning and we had quite a bit of rain overnight until about 06-00, light winds at the moment and quite bright. Apparently we're going to get some very inclement weather a little later today.
 
I've no idea what time it quit here, I got up around 5 am, for a leak, and the rain was still hammering on the widows.
There is still a lot of cloud around but it's actually trying to brighten up.
Currently 9oC and no rain predicted for today.

Disappointed, I never saw a flake of snow yesterday. Apparently, it was all around us but nothing here. There's tons of it up North. I'd normally make a trip around this time of year to Glencoe but I can't make it this year. I've looked at the webcams up there, it looks beautiful, with snow capped peaks.

Back home, there's glimpses of sun, it's not windy, just a very light breeze, dry and 4 degrees.

I've not managed one walk without it raining.
Left the car in blue sky, heavens opened halfway round.

Am I soft because I carried Em (twice) over some flooded ground, made a few others laugh, one guy looked at his wife and walked back the otherway :LOL:

To me, there's something good about doing that kind of stuff. It's also an incentive for your wife to stay slim!
