Pretty much the same here first thing, clouded over a bit now but still quite pleasant.

Since nobody else turned up to the course this morning, I headed home. Noticed that it was reasonably warm (14°C) so took a bike out for a quick spin. Just about warm enough! Would have been better in the kevlar lined jeans rather than the single layer ones but my knees still bend!

There seems to be a lot of bikers here enjoying the mild weather & salt free roads.

I've just looked at the rain radar map and the heavy stuff coming my way and much later, yours, is over Cardiff as I post 9.00pm .5C here.

Yep it seems to have slowed down, by a couple of hours, for here.

Wet and windy here. Has been since about 20:00 yesterday.

11oC
Very dull, very dreary and drizzling. :(

Meanwhile in Australia, from a storm chaser, in my cousins area..

We have had 1000’s of questions about the destructive storm on the the Gold Coast & Scenic Rim last night…
Our undoubted opinion based off doppler radar and damage assessments is that it was a tornado.
It started at Flagstone / Cedar Vale near Jimboomba and very quickly tracked east across Mt Tamborine, through Upper Coomera, Oxenford, Helensvale and Paradise Point. A confirmed wind gust of 160kmhr was recorded at Mt Tamborine however damage indicates potential gusts over 200kmhr. The tornado was on the ground for 30 minutes.
Our thoughts are with everyone who went through this traumatic experience and especially those who have significant damage. A lady lost her life during the tornado and our sincere condolences extend to her family and friends.

And from my cousin
<snip>House got struck but only a few electrical items got fried, few small palms in the garden got uprooted, unlike some unlucky people who've been without power since Christmas night when the tornado went through ripping trees by roots, house roofs and fence panels etc, area looking like a warzone atm, going to take time for the clean up.</snip>

I'm glad we don't get many tornadoes in the UK, scary things. I do recall one day, when I used to be into mountain biking. I was on the Welsh hills and had stopped to take in the view and top up my hydration. It wasn't a particularly windy or stormy day but there was a breeze. I was in a disused quarry and I think the high sides of it were creating small twisters with the breeze hitting them. One came quite close to me, in the scheme of things, it was tiny but still 20 feet tall or so and about 10 feet across. The power in even that small one was significant. It lasted about a minute as it moved across the quarry.

It's a bit meh here today, grey and damp, showers and currently 5 degrees.

15:30 car say's 10.5 oC, its raining quite hard and almost dark.

The backend of storm Gerrit has just passed through. That's the seventh named storm so far this season..amazing.It brought really heavy rain and high gusts of wind and the Met Office think that the next named storm will be on Saturday as the Low is winding up very nicely out to the west.

I know what you mean,Dale..but..... :D https://inews.co.uk/news/uk-tornadoes-country-why-2728930

Was it a hot day ?

What you experienced https://cloudatlas.wmo.int/en/dust-whirl-or-sand-whirl.html

Wales ..April 2021. There's no such thing as a 'Mini tornado" which the media love to call these dust devils.

It stopped raining here for almost exactly an hour! By pure chance, it stopped as I was parking in town and started just as we were walking back to the car having used all our street parking time. Traffic Wardens (or current equivalent!) were hunting in packs...

I am suprised by that news article, I'll take cover, just incase. :runaway:

I don't recall it being a particularly hot day the day I saw the dust devil but it was dry and had been for a few days. That's exactly what I would describe it as, a dust devil. (y)

It absolutely lashed down here this afternoon.

I've got the heating on, it has a boost facility (Hive) and I have it set to 1 hour and 18 degrees. The place warms up nicely but the living room, which has 2 rads, gets very toasty and holds that warmth well when the boost ends. The living room is also warmer than the hallway, where the Hive is.

Despite the cold snap a couple of weeks ago, we've only used 1 more Kwh of gas this month than last.

It's 5 degrees outside and it was feeling chilly indoors too. Nice and cosy now.

We have the log burner running this evening - nice and warm in here npw too. :)

11-C here at 07-00 quite breezy but no rain. 10-30 with winds getting quite strong now and rain is forecast from anytime now and onwards.

That got a tad blowy over night here too.
No rain so far, maybe some later on this evening,
12oC and still a bit of a breeze.
