Heat.

I see more heavy rain coming out of the SW on Saturday.

Baby weather at the moment,
Slightly wet and windy :D

Friday is supposed to be dry, but another down pour on Saturday.

During my routine check before bed last night, part of which involves taking a look outside in the gardens, the skies were clear, it was noticeably colder and the grass was that silver, greenish way. There was condensation on our cars which was just begining to freeze.

I was up through the night and looked through a window onto our garden. It had clouded over and the frost was gone but it was possibly the coldest night for us here so far.

It seems dead calm at the moment and quite a bright day, with high, broken clouds. Apparently, it's 8 degrees outside but it does feel cooler than that. It's comfortable indoors with no heating on at the moment.

The heat of a few months ago seems not that long ago but I guess we won't be seeing that for a while now, which suits me.

More than one? Show off :p :exit:

Back one is big, too big. Front one is a postage stamp in comparison. There's a grassy bit at the side too. One of the attractions for us when we bought the house was the back garden, it's great but a pain in the backside to cut. The grass seems to grow silly fast on it too, after 5-7 days, it needs cutting again and can easily grow 3 or 4 inches in places in that time. I have 2 wild areas now, that don't get cut at all, one serves as a background at my hide. Both wild bits are about 25 square metres, one has a pond/read puddle.

I don't miss cutting it on those hot days. My last cut for this year was just last week and it has grown slightly again since then, a testament to the mild weather. I guess the frost last night will have stopped it in it's tracks though.

Still think livestock would help you with the grass .......annnd.. Christmas/Easter roasts and summer BBQ's ;)

Its quite calm here at the moment, largely blue skys, and dry.
Its all supposed to return on Saturday ( tomorrow ) though.

This thread is very British with weather talk :D

I had to pick up my Bonsai this morning, it had been blown up garden

Indeed.
It makes a change from all the death and destruction posts elsewhere (y)
I hope the bonsai is ok. :)

It does.
Cheers, it is, not much left as it's dying back any way (Redwood). Heavier pot needed.

Our son is coming back home, starting tonight from Sardinia. The ferry should drop him at Livorno, which is mostly under water right now. :p

Just nipped out, into what became a bit of a downpour.
Weather map is say 10oC feels like 3oc.
Yep I'm not arguing with that.
Seems its starting again around 6am Sat. and continuing most of the day.
Its ok it can stop now, the pond is very full...

Saves doing any water maintenance :D
I did that at the beginning of last month.
(filters etc) just got to get a finer net over it now, to stop all the falling leaves going in there, from next door's bloody giant beech tree.

I'll be doing my filters this weekend and fishing out maple leaves, some prat planted it on the pond edge... (the prat being me!) :D

The tree next door, is a good 30 feet wide and hanging over her fence both sides.
It must be 30 feet tall and 20 feet deep ( just less than half the length of her garden, FFS!

Cold and clear here tonight for the fireworks, plus the moon looked amazing on the way home.

Cold one last night.

Lovely morning this morning, I was out and about just after 4-30am. No frost as it had clouded over a bit.

Skies are white just now but it is very calm. 8 degrees outdoors, a little chilly indoors but nothing a hoodie won't fix.

Well, that was interesting.

It's a comfortable 9 degrees outside and 17 indoors.

However, just after 2pm, the atmosphere changed, it felt quite ominous. I looked outside and it was getting dark....at 2pm. :$

It got darker over the next 20 minutes, with some rain. By 3-30pm, the street lights were on. I meet my daughter off the school bus at just after 4pm and by then, it was quite dark, darker than I've ever seen it that time of day, this time of year. I had to walk to the bus stop as my car needs a repair and Wifey has the other car at work. I left home at just about 4pm, it was raining but not bad. The bus stop is about 1/2 mile away. By the time I got there, the heavens had opened, I did though manage to stay reasonably dry by sticking close to buildings.

The bus was late of course and I had little shelter when I got there.

The rain was biblical, very, very heavy, bouncing off the road stuff. I'd carried a coat for my daughter to wear, I'd managed to keep it reasonably dry. My dog was with me too, she wasn't impressed.

By the time we got home, all 3 of us were soaked. I've seen rain like that before but never been caught out in it.

It's still raining, very steadily but not quite as heavy as it was.

At least we have had a laugh about it.

Only laughing because you saw the funny side!

Not sure if you follow F1 but the building storm at the end of qualifying was impressive, as was the arrival.

There's something rather nice about "struggling" through rain as long as there's a warm house (and a dry change of clothes...) at the far end (that's not too far away!)

We looked at the forecast to see what we would be doing for lunch (often go out for Monday lunch) but decided that a forecast of thunderstorms made a sarnie at home the best option. Needless to say, it was lovely here...

That's a b****r @Dale. :(

It's been chilly here all day, under the clear blue sky :D
(Currently 8oC but the map says "Feels like 1oC" I can't argue with that)
Tomorrow is looking similar, but Weds is looking wet.

We were at a wedding on Saturday - the weather was not clement for pictures aftwards.

Glorious sunshine here at the moment. Just my luck to be on an antibiotic that suggests I stay out of direct sunlight!!! Factor 30 in November...

Nice here too, wall to wall sunshine at the moment, quite a calm day too. 9 degrees outdoors, 17 in.

No doubt it will turn biblical again at about 4pm.

It started off wall to wall blue sky's, here.
No rain forecast until tomorrow, but looking at the sky now, I'm not convinced.

Good luck with the school pick up @Dale. :)

It stayed fine, which made a nice change to yesterday's soaking.

There is news on the car front, without going off topic, it seems to have fixed itself, for now but is going in to get checked regardless. If it had fixed itself about 3-45 pm yesterday, we wouldn't have got soaked.

Its typical British summer weather here today (y)

Barely double figures and that fine drizzle that soaks right through you the minute you step outside.

Drizzle is worse than rain..it's depressing.

The following days don't look too good for the UK .8C for tomorrow and lots of rain..same Fiday .Weekend looks ok ..no rain but chilly then back downhill. Scotland does quite well..not much rain atall.

Miserable here all day, though I can't hear rain on the roof right now.

Its all but dark here, and just very damp.
Its not raining as such.

It's been nice here but cold, currently 6 degrees outdoors, 16 in. Giving the heating an hour's boost.

We were promised hail at 3pm and although it got darker, it never rained/hailed.

We have a westerly breeze but it has that easterly bite to it.

5 degrees outside, dry as a bone, just some mist, which happens being close to the river. Cosy 18 indoors, that will do. The 30kg of Weimaraner on my lap, not forgetting the approx 7kg of Ragdoll cat wrapped arond the back of my neck might be why I'm close to sweating here.

Who needs central heating? Get a pet........... or 2.

Mrs Nod has a pet... I'm close to being house trained now!

Cold here, 2 degrees and dropping, sky is clear. Heating on, to 19 degrees.

4 oC here clearing skies after a recent shower for about an hour. Its not cold in here but there is something comforting about being wrapped in a quilt, watching crap on TV :D

We've just had monsoon-type downpours every now and then and more due tomorrow. All moving east. 7C here.

4 degrees at the moment, although there is a light frost on the grass. A toasty 19 indoors after a heating boost. I've not been able to get warm this last few days though, turns out, I have a bit of a cold.

It's been a lovely day though, dry and bright.

It was 4 degrees when I was coming home this evening, probably icy tomorrow.

Weather map is saying 4oC feels like -3oC
I've just been out to check on the hedgehogs, to see if they are still feeding, and yep it's bloody cold out there!
