Daily hayley.price's 365's 2013

How lucky were you to see that deer

i know, used to live in a tiny little town on the edge of a woods with fields all around it, not one deer... my boyfriend lives in a reasonably sized town not alot of fields just one nature reserve in the middle and bam a whole group of them

really well done on the deer Hayley :D not once but twice  and I hope that you find your otter  it's nice to see things progressing well for you and to see a good variance in subjects :D

its not out of focus it just has a very narrow DOF

Could you then, point out what part is IN Focus as I can't find the focal point

I do know about narrow dof and Im afraid your image IS out of focus - sorry

Les ;)

like this the focal points are the stamen tips

Shot with a Macro lens So, I do know about narrow dof and Im afraid your image IS out of focus - sorry

I think it may be more correct to say the image is soft.

It was shot at 300mm of a 70.0-300.0 lens and also at f5.6 of the f/4.0-5.6 range - stopping down most lenses by a bit usually sharpens them up.

I cannot see how it's correct to say it's OOF when some elements are behind the plane of focus and some are in front, surely then some of the flower/petals/twigs would have hit the plane of focus...

I agree- but show me the actual area thats in the Plane of focus as I can't find it  By your own statement some must be in focus surely

Within the 365 we support each other, we all have the odd soft shot that doesn't go as well as planned but in a 365 that's part of it. Nobody gets perfect shots everytime..... Perhaps a better wording would have helped or a little advice to encourage :-D

If you have nothing encouraging or helpful to say then I don't think it's going to be any loss if you don't post on this thread again....you had an opportunity to help and query in a much better phrased way...

Surely you can see that dropping in on someones 365 thread and typing:
Shame No2 is completley out of focus is hardly the way to make friends and influence people.

thank you guys for your support, i am well aware that its not the best image on my 365 so thank you for supporting me

Doesn't soft mean out of focus? I've always thought so.

Doesn't soft mean out of focus? I've always thought so.

To me soft means an image that exhibits the effects of diffraction or a poor quality lens which is not sharp across the aperture range.

To me out of focus means just that! The area that the photographer meant to focus on was missed either by user or camera error.

Ok Im sorry if I came across in a bad way- but photos are on line for critique & No2 IS out of focus

May I therefore suggest the OP, uses a tripod to enable a smaller aperture of around f11 to f14 - giving a much deeper dof and slower shutter speed = OR use a flash to freeze any movement in the subject

Hope this helps

Les :D

Good advice Les, trouble is with doing a 365 is you don't always get time to plan and spend as much time as one would like on your photo for each day :(

Accepted- I may even give this a go myself one day ;)

Les :D

right thanks everyone and thank you les for making it sound less harsh i appreciate that, and that day was just a quick shot to keep the 365 going, and may i ask that you please remove your photo from the post as i would like it to only be my photos shown through this 365 thank you

To me out of focus means just that! The area that the photographer meant to focus on was missed either by user or camera error.

So, crap equipment or crap technique then:shrug: That'd make things be out of focus right enough.

Oh come on now is this really necessary??????

That's what he has indicated causes pictures to be 'soft' or oof. I merely agreed.

It was not meant as an opinion or criticism on Hayley's pictures, skill or technique.

Yes but it's just continuing the original comment against her photo, surely the grown up way would be just let it go instead of coming back again and again, it's already been stated any of us doing a 365 doesn't always result in what we aim for each day but we are here to support and encourage NOT put people off!.. :-)

I've not even commented on Hayleys's pictures that seem to have caused such a fuss. Jeeeeezzzzz, yeh get slagged off for the manner of crit, slagged off for agrreing with folk. Cannae win:D:bang:

Yes you did and proceeded with silly crawler comments when Les apologised and said he could have worded better.... In which it would have ended there!.... You jumped in again... I politely said it would be grown up to just leave it.... Nobody is slagging anyone! ......:-P
Now chill and smile

For heavens sake that was a bit of banter between me and Lez. Look at the history of posts between us (and for that sake Trev4, U8myufo, Fracster, NeilB etc etc), it happens all the time. It's called fun, humour. Ask him if I offended him, I know what the answer will be.

thank you they do this quite alot on my posts i seem to have a nack for causing arguments quite frankly i just laugh at the so called grown ups on this forum acting like someone my age ( im 19 ) and in all fairness when i first started and they commented things on my photos basically saying they were dog poo to put it politely i did retaliate, but i have grown up a bit scine then and they don't seem to have done so. so i just laugh at them now and let them get on with it, but thank you for your support on my photos its much appreciated to see there are still decent people out there

i personally thought me and you had sorted out any problems between us and i would appreciate it if we just left this argument as it was and not carried it on as it is rather off the topic of this post, this is to show my 365, this is my first 365 and i can only learn about it, and as much as i need both good and bad critique of my photos les, original comment was simply enough crit and his personal opinion witch i did not get offended by as my photo to me is not out of focus and if you chose to think so that is your choice. now please take me being grown up about this whole issue and take a note from my book and grow up yourself

Yes I know 'that' was for him but it wasn't necessary to continue the issue and then re comment!..
I'm not arguing or having ago I'm just trying nicely to say leave it now eh!
