Blue sky! It's been a real shock, I can see why you photographed itNice catch up.
Shame No2 is completley out of focus
Les![]()

its not out of focus it just has a very narrow DOF
Could you then, point out what part is IN Focus as I can't find the focal point
like this the focal points are the stamen tips
Shot with a Macro lens So, I do know about narrow dof and Im afraid your image IS out of focus - sorry
Les![]()
I agree- but show me the actual area thats in the Plane of focus as I can't find it
I agree- but show me the actual area thats in the Plane of focus as I can't find it  By your own statement some must be in focus surely
I cannot see how it's correct to say it's OOF when some elements are behind the plane of focus and some are in front, surely then some of the flower/petals/twigs would have hit the plane of focus... __________________

I seem to miss your thread and i don't know why... you have some gorgeous work here Hayley well done!![]()
I think it may be more correct to say the image is soft.
It was shot at 300mm of a 70.0-300.0 lens and also at f5.6 of the f/4.0-5.6 range - stopping down most lenses by a bit usually sharpens them up.

Within the 365 we support each other, we all have the odd soft shot that doesn't go as well as planned but in a 365 that's part of it. Nobody gets perfect shots everytime..... Perhaps a better wording would have helped or a little advice to encourage :-D
thank you guys for your support, i am well aware that its not the best image on my 365 so thank you for supporting meFrom exif : Approximate Focus Distance 1.26m
If you have nothing encouraging or helpful to say then I don't think it's going to be any loss if you don't post on this thread again....you had an opportunity to help and query in a much better phrased way...
Surely you can see that dropping in on someones 365 thread and typing:
Shame No2 is completley out of focus is hardly the way to make friends and influence people.![]()
Doesn't soft mean out of focus? I've always thought so.

Ok Im sorry if I came across in a bad way- but photos are on line for critique & No2 IS out of focus
May I therefore suggest the OP, uses a tripod to enable a smaller aperture of around f11 to f14 - giving a much deeper dof and slower shutter speed = OR use a flash to freeze any movement in the subject
Hope this helps

Good advice Les, trouble is with doing a 365 is you don't always get time to plan and spend as much time as one would like on your photo for each day![]()
Accepted- I may even give this a go myself one day
Les![]()
To me out of focus means just that! The area that the photographer meant to focus on was missed either by user or camera error.
So, crap equipment or crap technique then:shrug: That'd make things be out of focus right enough.![]()
Oh come on now is this really necessary??????
That's what he has indicated causes pictures to be 'soft' or oof. I merely agreed.
It was not meant as an opinion or criticism on Hayley's pictures, skill or technique.
Yes but it's just continuing the original comment against her photo, surely the grown up way would be just let it go instead of coming back again and again, it's already been stated any of us doing a 365 doesn't always result in what we aim for each day but we are here to support and encourage NOT put people off!..![]()
I've not even commented on Hayleys's pictures that seem to have caused such a fuss. Jeeeeezzzzz, yeh get slagged off for the manner of crit, slagged off for agrreing with folk. Cannae win:bang:
Yes you did and proceeded with silly crawler comments when Les apologised and said he could have worded better.... In which it would have ended there!.... You jumped in again... I politely said it would be grown up to just leave it.... Nobody is slagging anyone! ......
Now chill and smile

For heavens sake that was a bit of banter between me and Lez. Look at the history of posts between us, it happens all the time. It's called fun, humour. Ask him if I offended him, I know what the answer will be.
