(Well there is a day or a week for everything else isn't there?)

To the drivers that were in the wrong lane either by design or accident,
and then asking nicely to be let back in, with a wave of your middle finger. Are you surprised that no one ( that I saw) let you back in?

To the driver that went screaming up the outside of queuing traffic, and then forcing their way back in ( as above) forcing the cars in front to almost do a nose stand,
to avoid hitting them. I'm sure you made their day. At least you said thank you, one finger would have sufficed, but you were kind enough to use two.

To the driver that wasn't sure which lane he wanted as swerved back and forth 4 times.
(on the phone? p***ed, or just a t***t? who knows)

To the driver that went screaming down the bus lane and only "realised" his "error" when he saw the camera,
you made a great job of cutting up the artic to get in the correct lane, I'm sure the driver didn't mind at all.
As I was going in the opposite direction, I could clearly see the police car, down the side turning, behind the hedge, I guess you didn't?
I do hope they stopped you and congratulated you on your safe manoeuvre.

To the driver on the large roundabout, yes I know there are 4 lanes going round it, but they are clearly marked as to which
exit they lead to. They are not marked like that for your entertainment, nor for you to swerve around slower moving vehicles that are braking for the light controlled exit.

So happy lane discipline day folks I hope you had a good one

(All separate non related incidents, different roads and in the space of about 20 miles.)

Another typical day on Britain's roads then. I used to be on the road as part of my job almost every day and this was *normal*. Fortunately, I am now retired and no longer have to deal with it. I have a car and value the convenience, but I am grateful that I no longer *have* to endure it daily. I think it's just one manifestation of a larger issue - selfishness and discourtesy, which appears to be ingrained in so many now.

Its the DILLIGAF attitude unfortunately :(

I gave up professional driving many years ago, about 26, actually, because it was just becoming a total nightmare, even night trunks, that used to be fun and trouble free,
when most of the idiots were in bed were getting more and more dare I say dangerous, with the increasing number of discourteous road users.
And I do include other lorry drivers in that.

Now I drive a small van as part of my work, ( nothing like courier or delivery driver) and still manage to do about 1200 + miles a week.

Down here, the problems are more in doddery old fickwuts not knowing WTF they're doing, which lane to be in, which side of the dual carriageway they should drive on, whether or no to go down the hard shoulder of the motorway in their mobility scooter, whether they should be driving their 8MPG regulated mobility scooter flat out on the pavement (let alone whether or not it should really be registered as a road vehicle) etc..

Good job there's at least one perfect driver in town, although he's driving a keyboard ATM! :D:P

At least "He's" not terrorising pedestrians with his mobility scooter then

many many years ago, last century whilst as a student, I had a summer job with a local geotech / engineering / building firm. This would involve me driving all over East Anglia in a Land Rover Defender, which for a 20 year old was awesome.. the best bit driving around the being constructed thetford bypass collecting soil samples (as in earth) testing out it's off road capability. The worst bit was explaining to the boss just how I managed to get mud all over the roof of the landrover...

Anyhow, there was a road in Norwich (Guardian Road) with a roundabout clearly marked left lane left, right lane straight on and right.... I could see the t*** in the sierra coming up on the left and knowing what he was going to attempt, no way was I going to give in, either he hit the side or ended up in the allotments. I didn't care. Psycho Jim was in the passenger seat... anyhows he got the message then followed at 40mph inches away from the bumper... at the red lights, window comes down and he is brandishing a 9" adjustable spanner telling us what he is going to do.

Psycho Jim casually leans back retrieves 3 ft boltcutters and says, "Let's f**kin go then shall we?" I think he learned his lesson that day.

Another one, same roundabout, same scenario, get to where I was going to go and get sand, same landrover...

Guy follows me, I park up, he parks up and says "I should have just driven into the side of you...."

"Well, there it is over there mate, the big yellow land rover. Fill your boots."

This would involve me driving all over East Anglia
What is it with you lot Eh? The tales related above, relate to that particular part of the world :D
And I think without too much thought on your part, you will be able to identify most if not all the places ;)

It's the tractor factor, and fear of hills. Oh and general fengibbonery if over to the west of Norfolk... as you head towards Norwich IQ increases, and past Norwich it drops exponentially. It's a fact (or at least I can make it an alternative truth!)

So you had a quiet journey then :D

driving their 8MPG regulated mobility scooter flat out on the pavement
! :D:p

8MPG???
Ex boss's Aventador returned more than that!! ;):D

I'm very glad for my sub 5 mile run to work on shifts where the traffic is light and the d******ds are few.

Who are all these terrible drivers who speed, swerve, are inconsiderate or use their phones etc? It can't be anyone who uses the internet as all the replies I see on these threads say they are perfect.

Too many road users where I live are nasty cnuts. That and congestion and parking problems mean I'm happy not to drive.

But these are all just symptoms of free driving. I look forward to autonomous cars where nobody gripes about all these problems. A bit like me now as you'll see me happily in the tram or underground. Headphones on. Laughing at comedy podcasts, oblivious to what is going on outside the windows. In no hurry to get to the office.

No one is saying they are perfect, just that there is a sub species of drivers well below the "average" line,
that cause grief for your common or garden Mr ( or Mrs) Average driver.

Safest place for you (and us)! ;)

Oops! I can get Mrs Nod's down into single figures if I really try but not for long. Don't really like abusing it too much, although it does make a nice noise while doing it!

You do know that the programmers for autonomous cars are choosing who will die in a "bus queue/person crossing the road suddenly" scenario, don't you? (Other, similar scenarios are being programmed for as well...)

Safest place for you (and us)! ;)

What? several hundred miles down the M6/5? :P

Yes. I've heard the irrational scaremongering. When thousands of lives are going to be saved. Yet people still are happier to let some Joe Tosspot, from the stories posted here, to be in control.

The first Google car tested in MK ( one of 6 locations I believe) Killed a Bollard :(

Now laugh all you want, (I did) But I remember many years ago, my instructor balling me out for hitting a plastic cone with the rear wheels of an artic, while manoeuvring / training off road,

I killed a cone I proclaimed with a grin ....
NO! you just killed a child he retorted ...

Made me think, I never hit another cone!

Yes. I've heard the irrational scaremongering
No, they are genuine concerns ...

https://www.theguardian.com/technol...illed-autopilot-self-driving-car-harry-potter

According to Tesla’s account of the crash, the car’s sensor system, against a bright spring sky, failed to distinguish a large white 18-wheel truck and trailer crossing the highway. In a blogpost, Tesla said the self-driving car attempted to drive full speed under the trailer “with the bottom of the trailer impacting the windshield of the Model S”.

Acceptable ? / collateral damage? as the Americans are fond of saying ...
And Tesla has a fraction of the market

( Elon Musk, the CEO) statement noted that this was Tesla’s first known autopilot death in roughly 130m miles driven by customers.
Among all vehicles in the US, there is a fatality every 94 million miles,” the statement said.

We already have self driving cars, taxis. I'll control my own destiny thank you.

If you're allowing someone else to drive (ie taxi), you're not in control of your destiny any more than in an automated car.

At least you can yell at a human ( who may or may not understand you)
Have you tried yelling at a piece of technology? I have, waste of time IMO :D

Yelling at a cabbie has a similar effect

Id hope not, im usually drunk. I'll put a human over automation anytime.

They don't let people that short sighted drive. As I said. Irrational to want more deaths.

Who wants more deaths?. Let's all stay at home where it's safe, just be careful getting out of the bath or doing diy.

You probably still won't get it even when 10s of thousands of lives are being saved.

Get what? Automated transport will save thousands of lives. When? 10 years 20 years 50 years. Its all theory atm so until it happens carry on preaching.

We have a few t***s up here, too.

They tend to be BMW and Mercedes drivers, though other makers are represented.

Lol you must be deaf
I think he must have been wronged in this or a previous life by an auto mobile,

When? 10 years 20 years 50 years. Its all theory atm
exactly, as I've already said one person died because the "Computer" failed to spot a white trailer, or perhaps all white trailers will need to be banned for our safety,
And the other much closer to home, ban bollards so they don't hit those too

The current driving test is woeful imo.
I've done other tests and training, that opens your eyes as to how pathetic it is.

I just see the problems people have today. Such as this OP. And many other worse situations. All caused by people either not being proficient enough, or not having any respect for other road users, and being dangerous b&stards.

But its only a small minority of people that are like that, and they are probably like "that" in all their walks of life, inconsiderate and arrogant.

As for totally driver less cars, It'll never happen.
They'd be better off wasting their money on flying cars.

You can't suddenly ban driven cars overnight and replace them all with driver less.
At least with flying cars they'd be above the other road users and not come into to conflict with them.

Driver less cars, I would imagine that the idea is that they don't come into conflict with driven cars, backing off, taking avoiding action etc etc.
The aggressive drivers will use this to their advantage, to "bully" the computer driven cars.
And still gain the "upper hand"

Motor bikes, are we to see riderless [sic] motorbikes too? or will they just be banned?
Cyclists, what about cyclists? there are a lot of those that shouldn't be in-control of a cycle.
Will these also be banned in your Utopian world?

But then being cynical I'd say its all down to money, get the new drivers out on the road as fast as possible, that's god knows how many "new" cars on the road, per week,
and of course all that extra car tax fuel tax and potential speeding fines going into the governments pockets ;)
