Hi Chaps

Can anyone recommend a decent hands free car kit

Thanks in advance

Steve

To be fair and I am off the opinion there is no such thing as a good hands free kit.
it has been proved many times that simply talking on the phone even hands free distracts your concentration massively.

I have the standard samsung head phone stringy things with built in mic as a last resort but i wouldn't dream of using it in all but the quietist of road conditions.

Sooner they ban phones from being in the car the better, they should be placed in the boot when out and about.

i must admit i kind of agree with a blanket ban, it is not like the technology is there.
but i fell education is the key, we need to move away from the culture as i see it of paople "rabbiting" on hands free in the car.
a friend of mine admitted last year that when he was driving to and fro scotland where we were both working he pretty much spent the 4 hours each way calling all his mates for a catch up.

phones in cars with hands free for urgent and serious calls.

For what car and for what phone?

I don't recall even sitting in a car without built-in Bluetooth registered after 2004. And we're not talking flash cars - Clios, Puntos and the like.

Picked up one to use with my iPhone from Halfords

Mrs Nod's 56 plate Mercedes has no Bluetooth. There is provision for fitting a mobile phone to use it hands free but that needs a specific M-B sourced insert...

I do have hands free via Bluetooth in mine but rarely use it other than when stationary.

I keep forgetting the "everything's an option" approach of the premium German manufacturers! :D

It might be standard with Renault, Fiat, Peugeot or Ford, but BMW and Mercedes will always find a way of charging you extra for it! :D

Parrot is brilliant! My one could connect two phones at once ! Speak recognition on contacts and everything! Easy to fit yourself as well

WooHoo! My Skoda is now a premium manufacturer :D Top of the range Octavia VrS off of 2010 and it has no bluetooth. Well it didn't until I had a Parrot fitted :)

Oh but my wife's Mercedes made Smart has BT......

My VW caddy van has BT built in

Have used parrot ones in the past with very good experience.

My Vauxhall Meriva and Kia Rio are registered 2010 and neither of them have built in bluetooth. However I do use a sunvsior Bluetooth thingy bobby for emergencies but prefer to say "Hi google", Send text to other half to "put the dinner on as I'll be home in twenty minutes". :-)
I think the biggest problems are the people who basically work in their vehicle such as Van drivers or company reps. They use the drive time to carry out most of their business. Companies don't just condone this but encourage it so that their staff are productive at all time when on the clock!

The company I work for have cars and vans with built in Bluetooth but under no circumstances are we able to use it while driving. We would probably lose our job over it, they're that strict. You'd think they would remove BT from the vehicles.

Looks like you're sorted, but I've fitted a couple of Parrot kits previously for a mate and they worked very well and some of the newer versions will also allow BT audio streaming
