33 years ago, I sat beside an examiner who decided after 40 minutes of observing my driving and several questions on the highway code that I was competent to drive. More recently, someone who has never even seen me has decided that I may not drive until an arbitrary decision has been made based on the opinion of a gentleman who hasn't seen me for a year. As required by the powers that be, I reapplied for my license 8 weeks before the anniversary of the op so "we can deal with the application in time for the anniversary". Over a month later they acknowledged receipt of the form and told me it would take up to 12 weeks from then (12/10) to process the forms. Hell, if I had been stupid enough to drink and drive, I would have my license back by now! No doubt they'll blame Christmas for any extra delays, after all, no one ever sees that date coming...
OK, rant over. Merry Christmas to one and all (unless you work in the medical section of the DVLA, in which case I hope your turkey chokes you.)
