33 years ago, I sat beside an examiner who decided after 40 minutes of observing my driving and several questions on the highway code that I was competent to drive. More recently, someone who has never even seen me has decided that I may not drive until an arbitrary decision has been made based on the opinion of a gentleman who hasn't seen me for a year. As required by the powers that be, I reapplied for my license 8 weeks before the anniversary of the op so "we can deal with the application in time for the anniversary". Over a month later they acknowledged receipt of the form and told me it would take up to 12 weeks from then (12/10) to process the forms. Hell, if I had been stupid enough to drink and drive, I would have my license back by now! No doubt they'll blame Christmas for any extra delays, after all, no one ever sees that date coming...

OK, rant over. Merry Christmas to one and all (unless you work in the medical section of the DVLA, in which case I hope your turkey chokes you.)

Think about the savings you`ll make on petrol bud.

I share your pain... well wish pain on the dvla....

It was time to tax my cart this month... 15th comes and no reminder. Ok no problem i will do it online with my v5 and number plate... I put them in and no joy. I try again... still nothing.
Bit weird this and think I need to call dvla. I get chatting a it turns out that since i recived my v5 document the dvla have also sent another copy at a later date to someone else. So on the records at the dvla it seems that my car is now registered to someone else...

:gag:

You're kidding! Mine will do 40mpg but my wife's is hard pressed to manage 20... Yes, she is allowed to drive mine but much prefers driving hers. I'm very lucky that she's available most of the time to drive me around but I don't like being an imposition on her, especially after all I put her through before the op!

Come the 12 weeks, it'll be daily calls! Will also see if the local MP can help...

Unfortunately, the DVLA is staffed by mushers who couldn't care less. The few that do are overwhelmed in my experience. Im (un)lucky enough to have two vehicles and had to change address last year. I sent off the forms recorded delivery, yet they still managed to lose them and after 10 weeks, I rang to be told I would have to cough up £50 for replacement v5c, despite my protestations that it was clearly THEIR fault for losing them after the forms had arrived with them.

The many people I spoke to trying to sort it out sounded like they just couldn't care less.
