Me too mate I realy on the straighten tool :D

Here was my 10 second edit... all I did was slide the Shadow slider :thumbs:

Obviously it's not the best as it was not the raw file, but even this brings out the detail for me - My monitor is not calibrated though so mine may be too bright for others :lol:

Kind - on theme and a very good idea. Agree with others that a little dark and for me, a little too blue cast,

Vertical - nice shot, good sky. Not too sure about the bits at the bottom left end right but you have to work with what is there and the blue base does add to the scene.

Definately a very kind gesture....difficult subject to make interesting.....maybe plaing it to one side or having somebody's habds roynd it with another hand putting the note in ??

Vertcial....interesting subject with plenty of verticals going on...DK's lighter version brings out more of the detail nicely though has possibly gone a little far with the clouds...but then I'm viewing on a teeny netbook that's never heard of calibration :lol:

brighter of the two pilers is great - just enough at the bottom to give a hint at what it is.

Pattern works for me - might suggest cropping the bordery bit off the very top - and maybe a bit off the bottom. Nice one. :thumbs:

Pattern - I like the crop and the monotone treatment and excellent shot for the theme. My only tiny crit would be that it is not quite central and with these kind of symmetrical shots, if they are a tad out then it shows. The eye is very good at differentiating the tiniest amount of variation in symmetry. Done it myself so often.:bonk:

I am going to be contrary and say an edit somewhere between yours and Deans :lol:
I too am on a laptop so that might not be quite correct for others.

Pattern, as Alan says cropping for perfect symmetry would really nail the subject. Again bang on theme, I like the warm colour tones in the floor :thumbs:
 
Yeah, pattern works well. Nice low perspective. Is that the colours it is? Looks like the WB is of, and I suspect it isn't.

Any B&Ws?

This is the floor at the back of Liverpool Anglican cathedral. Light was very dim. This was a 6 second exposure as I had my tripod to do some hdr.

The combo of the cathedrals was a lovely morning out of the rain. I think the curve on the image was due to it being wide open at 17mm on my tamron 17 - 50 lens
 
Carl, love the angels (and who cares about the theme: it's there to prompt us to shoot!). The first one is a little dark, but the second is lovely.

Greed: also excellent. Lots of compositional strength here; well positioned, good colour, nice leading lines about the place. I'd have been tempted to do some spotting on a couple of finger tips, though!

Rustic: that is REALLY on theme, a great spot and an excellent shot.
 
Carl, catch-up part 2. The Kind shot did nothing for me, I'm afraid. On theme but that's about all.

Vertical: I think I prefer the first version; the darker structure has a bit more menace and contrasts better with the sky and clouds. Great shot though; the angled thingy to the bottom left is really valuable to it, I think.

Pattern: cropped version for me. Very much like it!
 
Bang on theme Carl :thumbs:

The vivid colour of the light is particularly pleasing on the eye.
I am not sure about the reculver in the background, it just seems an awkward crop to me. Maybe all of it included or a closer crop on the lightpainting would help :thinking:
 
Now they are cracking, vivid and colours with great clarity. The flow from left to right works really well and the flow screams movement.

Crit, well, I'd like to see the whole building. Suspect it isn't a crop. Maybe you were so focused often the light paining you neglected the. BG? Maybe not,

Overall, a cracker!

The light trail is great the BG just looks odd dont really know why you didn't get the whole facade of the building in:thinking:
 
I woukd love to have got the whole building in the photo. Not easy in the pitch black. I needed a wide angle lens . This was my first attempt at night photography

Sorry I've been a tad busy this last month and got a bit behind!

Your angels freak me out a touch, I think I've been forever tainted by Dr Who! I prefer the wider shot of the two angels, the trees and the greenery of the hedge add extra atmosphere.

Greed, that's a wad of cash. Great detail and colours in the notes.

Rustic, I didn't spot the cat until it was mentioned. Definitely rustic, fits the theme well.

Kind, wouldn't it be nice if everyone gave that much! The shot itself is lacking some oomf, sorry.

Vertical, what is that? Loving the blue sky, quite a rare commodity this year! I like DK's lifted version, it does bring out the detail in the shadows but has gone a smidge too far in certain areas, but like he says he wasn't working with the original file. Somewhere in the middle would be perfect!

Pattern, agree that the cropped version is better, I would maybe gomsomfar as to give it a square crop :thinking:

Movement is just excellent :clap: I love how the light trails look like ribbons with their lighter edges, how did you get that effect? I know what everyone is saying about the building in the background, but I think it's a great first attempt:thumbs:
 
Great colours there for movement - not sure that they fit with the ruined church in the background... but looks like good fun was had and certainly on theme! :thumbs:

Pattern - What a cracker... wonderful colours, and love the run down building behind :thumbs:

Below - All the people at the bottom are a bit of a distraction for me, the building itself is very nice, good contrast with the sky, nice angles and like the reflection :)
 
I agree with DK, I think it's pretty good, love the reflections and the shape against the sky, but would (in my opinion) benefit from cropping the bottom off.

The angles and reflections are appealing in your below image but I agree with the others that cropping the bottom would remove the busyness.

" taken in MY bath " :lol:

Nice angle , blue sky ,like the reflections , but would also crop the lower section out ,make it a little more abstract but would be more effective ....possibly:thinking:
 
Pattern: Very nice shot with lots of detail, gotta love them floors!

Vertical: Nice different shot.

Below: Interesting building, nice reflections and angles.

Movement: Fantastic shot, love the colours.
 
Movement is a lovely shot, I'd love to be able to do that. The lightwork is a very graffiti style thing for me, does it say anything, as I keep picking out snatches of words?

I like the shapes and the reflections in Below, nice sky too. The buildings in the background are a bit of an annoyance, but I bet they'd be a b****r to move!:D
 
Carl, terrific Movement shot. Great background, perfectly lit and exposed for the shot, and the light trails really give a sense of movement. I've never seen it done with colour bands like that before; no idea how! At first I thought it was writing the word "movement", but clearly not!

Below is a really strong image too, with lots of nice strong lines to lead my eye about. I find the top bit of sky distracting; did you try cropping it out? But good thinking and taking!
 
Thanks Chris.. Movement shot was a very simple 30 second exposure. There was a guy using a colour changing wand. Really simple...

Pub was very dark and tons of noise ISO was 2000 F2 125sec with my D7000 and nifty fifty

Now that's my kind of rock as well......shook me all night long , back in black....highway to hell.....oh yes....:thumbs:

As for the shot....really good given the conditions you were shooting in , no real evidence of noise but the 7000 handles high ISO really well , good skin tone as well :thumbs:
 
OK finally found time to upload photos taken weeks ago. Sp here is my Process image. This is the process of change at Victoria London. I know the brown pole is horrid and I should have cloned it out, but I just dont have time as Im going off on holiday today, so this is a real catch up.

I liked the shapes of the diggers with the old buildings in the background.

Boy is Victoria a mess at the moment

and here is my size image. I liked the bridge in the foreground with the man walking across ( out the image :-( ) and the background of westminster cathedral tower which is 60 meters high. I know the tower leans but the bridge was level.. weird angle from the interior of cathedral place shopping centre.

I was very tempted to do a photo of 2 bras one small and one large with SIZE MATTERS on it, but never found the right bras... So a more modest image was taken

Liking the Size shot ,good capture with the person in there :) shame about the sky

Busy shot for process & you're right...does look a bit of mess there...but sure it will be worth it
