weekly Greenoak's 52 - Week 31 - MONO added

Hi

Direction - on theme. Good focus on the sign but b/g a bit busy and the one that says 'play area..' is a distraction because of the highlight on it. Pole not quite straight.

Tacky - well on them for me and a good spot. Very difficult IMO to get good shots in shopping centres because of busy b/gs. Heel a bit dark and that ruddy aircon/extractor fan doesn't help. Like the reflection of the shoe in the mirror base.

The shoe was on a rotation podium as well. Very much a grab snap, but ive never seen a six foot high lego shoe before so thought it was worth snapping.

certainly tacky but the BG needs to be better its all a bit distracting

Hi Carl

Direction: I can't make my my mind up whether the building in the background takes away the impact of ths sign post. Maybe just a bit too much content?

Tacky: In theme and a good photo in a difficult location. The glass table and air con unit does impact slightly but no way around that. A good original entry.

hi carl - wondering a little as to whether your focus point was spot on for direction, works well for the theme and i think the buildings behind add to the shot. straighten the post though for me!!

Love the shot of the lego stiletto.... again needs a bit of a rotate but I'm not so bothered by the background here - it's in a shopping centre, there's going to be shops there.

Hi Carl :)

Direction - I like the building in the background, they help the sign stand out nicely, agree a little straighten of the post would help :)

Tacky - Good for the theme mate, would prefer a shallower DoF, but like the reflection

Vaule - Hahaaaa Good expression on his face too, well spotted :)

Hi, there, missed a few...

Electric, quite like the Dutch tilt and the lighting is good. Just the bright cloud lower left.

Direction, on theme but OOF.

Tacky, cracker. I'd like to see it a tad wider with a shallower DOF.

Value, well, s/he deserves a ticket. Well spotted. I'd have been tempted to whistle to get some eye contact :D

Cheers.

value - yep, a sixty quid ticket when you have a £35 grand (?) car.... good spot and the traffic warden does seem to have the look of a man with real job satisfaction!!!

The value I was thinking was justice

Hi ya

Justice....good spot & love his expression...

Tacky...OMG...nail hit head ! Can't help backgrounds in those places but I think you've done well not getting any people in shot

Direction....hmmmm...certainly on theme but the signs seem a little soft ?

Carl, I really liked Direction; what makes it is the gritty background, I think. The shoe is certainly tacky, but the shot didn't lift me the same way. I also liked Value, mainly for the justice of it, even though we all know the owner of that car will probably regard it as no more than a slightly expensive parking charge! You know, that guy is well positioned in the frame, and the out-stretched arm gives some tension; there's lots to like in the composition, ignoring the b*st*rd owner!

Not sure about Greed coming on so close to Gluttony.

I have an idea but it will need to wait till after I get paid

Hi Carl

Sorry, time has prevented me getting here any sooner so just commenting on the latest few.

Tacky, WOW that's some BIG shoe, certainly tacky with some strange studs on it!A greater DOF would have possibly helped lose some of the BG, otherwise a bit of SC would help lose things like the red Polo sign. Still it's great for the theme and must have taken a while to build it!

Value, I've got a posh car so will park it where I want, er no you won't! I like the expression on his face. Well caught.

Grrrrrrr I thought the subject was Angels - but ANGLES

I drove to Bristol to the Anos vale cemetery as they have amazing ANGELS as you can see

Well, I like the angles your angels are leaning at. ;) Certainly some good looking angels, anyway.

Greed works too, spot on theme.

Angels:
Nice statues, I prefer the second shot to the first, the BG is a bit distracting. Suggest lying on the floor next time!
Good on you for getting out to shoot the theme, even if it was slightly in error.. :D

Angels....:D

Although not on theme, #2 really is beautiful.

Greed, oi, you robbed a bank. Nice simple interpretation, nice detail and colours.

Cheers.

Hi Carl

have to confess...this theme nearly caught me out as well....had to read it several times before my brain finally saw Angles

hey ho...#2 for me as well...some lovely textures n colors from the ageing effect

greed....nice n sharp , good colors ,simple but effective....only niggle is the few white spots lower left

 for the theme mix-up, well captured the old weathered look of these angels. Also wonder if a different POV might have yielded a more interesting shot?

Greed is great - loadsamoney there, well composed, lit, and great details captured.

second angel pic is the better one but it still looks a bit soft to me:thinking: I am not going to mention the theme :nono: Thats a lot of cash for greed though your model needs to stop the nail biting

Back up to date with Rustic. A old Cotswolds village called Shilton

I loved the cat just sitting and enjoying the morning sunshine.

Took me ages to find the cat! (wondered why the cart - I thought it was a typo - might be enjoying the sunshine)

I really like this, spot on the theme and loads of detail to look at.

Hi

Angels - 2 good shots but for me #1 as I like the way that you have caught the 2 together (plural of course so more on theme). They seem to relate to each other with the Lh one pointing down and the RH one seeming to move towards that spot. Could do with a more shallow dof to take out a bit of the b/g and shame about the tree trunk appearing above the LH one.

Greed - on theme, sharp and simple. WB is a bit blue for my taste.

Rustic - Good spot. Simple, good colours and the cat adds to the scene. Wonder if a tighter crop would work emphasising the main elements of the cart and the cat.

Quick catch up, I'm afraid :D

Rustic, well spotted cat there and nice light. Crop, for me either tighter or wider.

Cheers.

Lovely rustic shot, I like that.

Took me way too freaking long to find the cat, though. I'm an idiot.

Had problems with light reflections off the collection plastic tin

Good idea, kind of looks a bit flat? (perhaps it's the angle?) Hope you didn't pull it out and stick it back in your pocket

certainly is on theme - very kind, agree that it looks rather under exposed - loads of room to the right of the histogram, maybe having the tin on a slight angle might have livened it up too???

All sins forgiven if the twenty made its way all the way into the collecting tin though.

My vert image. This is a piler . I just thought it looked interesting. I soon got moved on by the builders

I think my problem is my laptop panel is to bright.

I am thinking of getting a Dell IPS panel for my editting.

I would love to see your version on my laptop DK.

I also have Lightroom 4 ( and the 5 beta ) Love the straigten tool..
