Got one of my photos tattooed on me saturday....

Nothing wrong with tats. Ok, some I have I wouldn't have chosen 2nd time around but not worried about that. They all have a meaning to me.

The tattoo artist did a really good job copying your pug photo.

tats are not something I go in for. But your artist has done an excellent job and it is meaning full as a memory.
I feel that as long as they do not show on formal "Cover up" occasions they are unlikely to be a problem later.

After all, some Japanese business men have full bodies done, but you would never be aware of it.

I have seen some truly artistic work done recently, quite unlike the sailor stuff done in the past.

That is not really possible. What you think you want forever at age 20 is not the same as what you think you want forever at 40.

Your styles change, fashions change, thinking changes. Part of having tattoos is accepting that. I will admit that I would not have the same tattoos now that I had 20 years ago but it is not something that keeps me up at night!

The point being it's a memory you will remember at the time you got it. Yes, times change and it wont always be the same but the moment will.... :D

Not my thing as it involves needles and I don't do them. Have to say thats a great copy of the image, very lifelike.

Hasn't been a great year then really, has it? :/

Well, among the usual boring threads that populate this place, this had me chuckling from the start, only because the dog looks totally startled and I just had this thought in my head that every time the OP bent her arm (it's on the arm, right?), the dog would look like it was speaking. And the fact that it's such a wierd thing to have tattooed on a person...

How much did that cost, in the region of, and does the artist have a waiting list, if you don't mind me asking? Agree with the poster who said the smiley tattoos it covers weren't good.

I looked on it from two angles 'Pain' & 'Love'. The love of your dog and the pain you must have had the endure in getting it done.
Most impressed with the end result.

apart from there isn't really much pain involved in having tattoo....

Really?
Having never had one, I can't truthfully comment I suppose. Needles involved so that's enough for me to decide pain could be part of the experience and steer clear.

It is more irritating than pain. Fine for 20 minutes but gets very annoying if doing for any length of time. It also depends on where it is and how close to bone, how fat person is etc,.

I wouldn't class myself as fat, so that probably equates to more pain.
You'll not convince me to have one, but thanks for trying :-)

Great bit of cover-up! (And a very good transfer from photo to skin.)

Hope it's healing fast and not too itchy...

Still thinking what and where next - would like a full back or chest but don't fancy the shaving before the hours of annoyance/pain! I do have plans for a small one under my wedding ring - wife's name and wedding date.

I dread to think what the pug tat will look like when your skin loses its elasticity.

I think it is bloody awful, sorry.

Another reply the same as Andy's put me off my porridge at breakfast !:lol::lol:

Oh my word, sorry mate but i think thats terrible.
i generally think some tattoo's in context can be ok but im struggling.

Upside down that looks like a baddie from a low budget sci-fi film.

The comments from some of you guys about the tattoo's are priceless. Bunch of moany old farts.

I appreciate that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I think some of you have left your common decency somewhere else.

Great likeness from the image and if you're happy with the tattoo then that's all that matters.

Well said.

"I think it is bloody awful"
"Oh my word, sorry mate but i think thats terrible."

Are they referring to the skill of the artist and if not what are they referring to?

It sounds like the "opinions" were judgements based on tattoos and those that have them rather than the specific work that the OP had done. Some of the comments sounded more insulting than anything.

Im stuggling.

Love good tats...and this is a good one.

Hate dogs..childhood trauma.

Overall...thumbs up :)

The OP posted her new tattoo to share it, not to invite comments about whether she should have had it done, or what it will look like in 40 years. As a piece of body art, I think it's very well done.

I don't like tattoos, so I don't have any, but I've never met anyone with tattoos who's criticised me for not having one.

It would be extremely rare if someone put up something expecting only positives, and actually got it! ;)

I would say the point of putting it up was to invite feedback.

My missus has 3 tattoos btw, which I think are very nice, nothing major just symbols. One of which, a small black panther, seriously needs a re-ink, like the one posted here, it's very dark and the details have started to 'blend' together, making it a little smudgey.

Definitely starts to hurt if you have a 6 hour session

Very well done piece.

Agreed, plenty of examples of this on the threads, and a lot of people have been sandbagged when they weren't expecting it!

Yip, but to my mind, she was inviting feedback on the tattoo, not her decision to have tattoos. That's what I have a bit of a problem with.

Cool. She likes them, and so do you. Nothing more to be said. Mine won't even wear make up, or earrings that require pierced ears!

I appreciate that people often forget that tact and manners exist, but here, let me explain the basics for you.

If someone does invite an opinion (which indirectly, the OP has by posting on an open forum), then there are ways to express your opinion without being rude or attempting to insult that person. Describing a part of someones body as "bloody awful" isn't one of those ways. You don't have to lie if you don't like it, but "not to my taste" can be used and even combined with "but great likeness" or "but as long as you're happy".

If anyone else would like a lesson on manners, let me know and I'll even teach you how to stop dragging your knuckles on the floor as you walk.

I have a tattoo on my upper arm (just below my shoulder) and people always say.. "oh what what about when our old".. Well I won't be cutting about in tank tops etc lol.

I like it buddy, if it means something special to you as well then your laughing as its a great job.

Hey, I have seen plenty of old people walking around in white vests.

Realise that says more about where I was brought up that anything though...
