Google +

The problem is, if everyone adopts your attitude there never will be more people on it. You only get out what you put in ;)

Edit: Just to be clear, this is not a criticism of you personally, Robert.

Your right and no worries

Signed up a week ago not looked at it since, needs more people on it.

Gosh! I keep getting about a dozen people a day adding me to circles. There are literally thousands of photographers on there. Check out Thomas Hawk, Colby Brown and Trey Ratcliff for starters, then look for lists of photographers.

If you post a link to your status page I'll share my circle of TP members with you. You'll soon be saying there are too many people on G+ :)

I never liked facebook and didn't sign up to use twitter.

Went on google+ and seemed to be caught up in the first big wave. It has been good for me, a much better way of finding new photographers and sharing with them. I've met lots of great toggers and had interesting discussions with them about how and where they take their shots etc.

It's all gone a bit nuts now with the ability to share circles though.

im on it, though i still use facebook as all my friends are on there. I don't think it will take off as well as facebook did as it is a fiddle and some consumers like it simple and easy, like facebook! :) but if it becomes popular will move over.. as it's the only reason why i have it is cause my friends do... also keep in contact with the family while at uni!

I've decided to give it a go and added a few from here .... Just testing for now. :D

I prefer Google+ to FaceBook and Twitter. It's just more fun to use, looks fresher, displays images better and the circles are a great idea. For example, I have a circle for photographers so if I just want them to see something I post I can do that!

I'm hearing that it's now becoming a popular place for photographers.

I'm at https://plus.google.com/u/0/114034638287550980649/posts?hl=en if you want to Google+ me ;)

I've just joined the band wagon but I've no idea what I'm doing. How do you get these circle things going? Do I just create one and add people to it?

Yes, that's it. Or create separate circles for each of the subjects that interest you. For example, I've got circles for friends, acquaintances, 500px members, photographers, TP members, Android fans, Google staff, Nikon users, celebrities, Photoshop users, and Linux users.

If you let me know the URL of your profile, I'll share my Photographers circle with you. There are 3,190 people in it. You'll get a pretty good feed with lots of great photos to look at, advice, themes, photography news, blog posts, etc, etc. And if you interact with these people, +1ing the photos you like, commenting on their posts, etc, they'll start to follow you back.

If 3,190 is too many, just start your own photography circle and add some of the good photogs such as Trey Ratcliff and RC Concepcion, or the prolific ones like Thomas Hawk. Then watch who follows those people and add them. If they like your work they'll follow you back and your circle will grow slowly. Or quite quickly, depending on how much you interact with people. Those people who say that Google is dying are simply not interacting in the most effective way.

Also, type whatever other subjects interest you in the search box at the top, watch who's posting the good stuff, and start circles for them. Watch who makes good comments on those people's posts, and circle them, and so on.

If you start to get thousands of people in your circles, your stream can get a bit hectic to start with, but it will slow down eventually.

Will do. On Google+ you can only share 500 people at a time so I'll have to split my Photographers circle up into several smaller circles, which will take time. It's very late on Sunday (or early on Monday from another viewpoint) so I won't be able to do it until tomorrow.

Cant thank you enough Garry  I've just finished work so I'm gonna take a look around Google + for a bit before bed and see if I can sort out these circles. Thanks again ;)

Hi guys,

Total newbie with regard to photography and I know my first post should be in the introductions forum, but I've been lurking around a couple of weeks and you've convinced me to give Google+ a try.

Hope you don't mind I've added those who've posted links to my circles.

[Thread Revival Time]

So I decided to take a second (fifth or sixth) look at Google Plus, seeing as Google owns half the world, I figure it can't hurt the business to play along for a bit.

Does anyone have a business page set up, as opposed to their personal profile? If so, do you have any problems with your profile picture displaying? My personal one shows up fine, but with my business page, I get the little blue bobble head next to any posts I make, and the generic blue square thing next to my profile in searches, even though I have a profile photo which displays fine in the header of my page...

EDIT: So, I changed the profile picture and it seems to be working fine now.
