Goodbye little friend - A GOOD NEWS UPDATE!

Sorry Marc just spotted this thread.

Very sorry to hear about Miki. A real lovely cat.

All the best cats are gingers and we're lucky enough to have a lady ginger. Just want a male calico now to buck both trends!

 good luck with that. Last time I saw one it was with a breeder I worked for when I was 17, and she hadn't bred it, it was a local stray moggy that moved into her garage. He had already been neutered by a previous owner, whom we never tracked down, so couldn't even attempt the genetic game of chance with him ;)

My son and his wife have one. She, and her sister (grey tabby), came from a rescue centre as kittens. They're about 18 months old now, and I'm certain they know that humans once worshipped cats...............

My friend has a ginger girl. He was called Charlie, but she's now called Charley  It was only after a trip to the vets that he realised! I think they're alot more common than they used to be.

Has Bungle arrived yet? I can't wait to see pics!

My ThomasCat has his own Facebook page...when Bungle arrives, I think they should be friends ;-)

 almost all calico/tortoiseshell cats are females, males are almost impossible to find.

Meanwhile I have discovered snowshoe cats and have fallen in love!

I had to Google that as Its the first time I have heard of them.
How cute with those eyes!!!!
Very sleek looking too as they get older.

Snowshoes are lovely. I had Burmese, but they were stolen some years ago. I swore I would never have pedigrees again.

Missed this earlier Marc.

Bungle looks absolutely gorgeous, good luck for the meet with him tomorrow. I'm sure you'll fly through the home visit and it won't be long now until he's home with you

We did exactly the same earlier this year. After we'd lost Ebony we both said that we wouldn't have another dog for a while. Then a couple of months later we spotted Stella in a rescue centre and just fell in love with her. She'll never replace either of the other 2 dogs that we've lost, but she's a much-loved family member in completely her own way.

kittens are cute....but surely not as cute as this...

Now that is just too cute, melts the heart.

Thanks Sarah. You're right, they can never replace the ones you've lost but you wouldn't want them too. I like to think of them as the next generation, different to but as much loved as those that came before.

Most Gingers are male but ours isn't. Saw Cats 101 a while back and snowshoes were featured, as were Bengals and some other varieties. Not sure how well Maisie would take to another cat in the house - nose was well out of joint whan an interloper helped himself to some of her food earlier, even though she used to be a plate pincher when Mum and Dad first had her.

My daughter has an almost spiritual relationship with Siamese, and my wife wants to get Bengals one day. She worked with Asian Leopard Cats a few months ago - habituated but not tame - and likes the idea of an F2 or F3 to keep some of the 'wildness'. Hmm........................

Oops, meant to update this.

Sue got a text Sunday morning to say that a couple of the kittens had the snuffles and she was trying to isolate the issue so would we mind putting our visit back to Monday evening. She then texted again on Monday to say that Bungle now had the snuffles and was going to the vet that evening. We're waiting to hear back.

 Poor kittys.
:'(

I hope they will be okay x

Apparently he went to the vet again yesterday with a 'sticky eye'. The woman is going to get back to us tomorrow as she is away tonight. Not looking good for this weekend by the looks of it.

Fingers crossed Marc that the kittens get better and you get to adopt.

Marc, very sorry for your loss its always difficult when one loses a pet, they become such a part of our lives, and truly do have their own personalities

Thanks Ian. It's 4 weeks today and it's still raw. :(

Would it cheer you up to see some piccies of my lulu's kittens? :)

#1 Luna's first and only litter. She had 4 :) This is at 1 week old.

#2 2 weeks and 6 days old

#3 This is Torpedo. Sadly, he was born with bad legs. He was called a 'swimmer' by the vet. They hoped his legs may straighten, but they got worse until he couldn't stand up properly and he couldn't lift his head off the floor. So, I had to have him go to kitty heaven :( :( He's in the garden next to his Uncle Monkey.

#4 At 7 weeks, the last two to go :(

One of the tabby girls was gorgeous, she was a leopard tabby, all spotty. I wanted her so bad! I hope they cheered you up anyway. Bungle will arrive soon enough! ;-)

Kittens are too moreish! You see one and you just want lots...

Another update.

Sadly, the woman with Bungle never got back to us. Communication, unfortunately, was poor.

Then..........

........along came Jacob

This was via the RSPCA and, as far as communication is concerned, it has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Sue filled in the online form on Tuesday, the local represenative contacted her on Wednesday and arranged for someone to do a home visit for Friday (this evening). She turned up and basically we spent half an hour swapping kitten stories. :D

15 minutes later, the local rep phoned to say that she would contact the fosterer to get her to contact us to arrange to see him over the weekend and to take the cat carrier with as, if we like him (as if we wouldn't) we can take him home. :woot:The fosterer phoned 10 minutes later and, all being well, Jacob will be with us Sunday afternoon.

There is a minimum donation of £60 but you get a voucher for neutering and microchipping. Here he is, he's 10 weeks old

Oh, and if you're into omens, when Miki was a kitten, we thought he was a she until we took him for his jabs and the vet pointed out a couple of tiny dots. Turns out, exactly the same happened with Jacob.

Yay! Jacob is a cutie! Poor Bungle though, i hope he gets a nice home too.
