Goodbye little friend - A GOOD NEWS UPDATE!

So sorry to hear that Marc, poor Miki, what a gorgeous looking cat.

Half the time they come into our lives by accident.
Eat our food and demand affection.
We drop our guard and they step right in.
their lives shorter,so when they depart.
A pain it gives ,a stab to the heart.
:'(
Never again,we promise ourself.
Keep my distance this time around.
Just play with you a little bit to keep you quiet.
Today you look cuter than before.
Oh! shoot!,here we go again.........

Been there so many times man.
All our best mate.

That's lovely Rick, thanks.

So sorry to hear that Marc, poor Miki, what a gorgeous looking cat.

Thanks Lynton

Well, after saying we wouldn't get another cat for a while, an opportunity has come our way. This is Bungle Bear (yeah, I know! :D), a 9 week old kitten rescued from a shed at the back of a pub. We're going to see him at the weekend and there will be a home check done (but we don't foresee any problems) so he could be ours next week.

Awe Bless! definitely a cute little b****r :)

Feel for you mate, i have 4 cats 3 of which are 18-19 years old, the eldest is now going blind and her blood pressure is sky high, waiting to see if the tablets have worked this week.

Awwww nice one you two - looks to be a fantastic addition to the household.

Good on you for getting a rescue too - often people think that they will be hard work - in my experience they are all the more grateful and loving for your care.

Cheers guys, it's gonna be a fun Christmas and boy is Mysti in for a shock! but I've got a feeling she will warm to him quite quickly. TBH, I think she's missed having someone to feel superior to (apart from us of course. :D)

Matt, never entered our heads that a rescue might come with issues. Biggest problems can come with some rescue organisations themselves. We went to the Cats' Protection League last time and were told we were out of their area (by 2 miles!!) so they wouldn't be able to come out to do a home check. I even offered to pay their petrol but they just weren't interested. :( A lot of people do fantastic work but a small minority can make it extremely difficult a times.

Some of the CPL are excellent others are pathetic jobsworths! I did some work for them for free, took about three months to create a database for the vets etc. FOC and never received a word of thanks. Never again

:bang: isn't that infuriating! The one I have started supporting have home checkers and volunteers and foster homes all over the country, despite being here in London - and yes, we have to resist the urge to visit weekly, 2 dogs and 2 cats really SHOULD be enough for anyone

New little bundle looks gorgeous, I expect great pics....oh.... is there a chance of him being with you on Tuesday? :D

Good on you for having a rescue cat, i work for the cat protection for a few years (cat Catcher) and i no they need all the help they can get, one of mine is from them.

I think it's the same with most organisations Steve, the good goes with the bad. I cling on to the hope that the good far outweigh the bad.

I could never make casual visits to animal rescue centres/foster homes, I'd come home with the lot!

Sue spoke to the fosterer today who said she'd like to keep him for another week as he's rally starting to come on and interact with the other kittens. I don't know if she meant another week from today or after we've been to see him but I should imagine we'd find it extremely tough to leave empty hand so you never know. ;)

Just had a vision of you in a black hooded robe running around the streets with a big net!

Good on you for doing it though.

I went into a rescue place to get one or two cats... came out with 3!

Rescue older cats can need a lot of work. Kitten aged ones usually get over things fairly quickly. All mine are rescues and are varying degrees of basket cases :)

And I bet they're all characters! :D

Aw what a cutie! Good luck with the new bungle of fluff! ;-)

;-) you don't miss a trick! He is very cute. I hope you get him soon. Take lots of pics. I lost all but a couple of my kitten pics of my two when an old hard drive packed in :( no back ups back then!

Miki & Mysti were already grown up when I got into photography properly so it will be good to get the opportunity to get some decent kitten pics.

That's one name to call them :D

Experience gives me a good idea of the other names!

So sorry to hear this Marc! Ive lost many cats over the years and its never easy!

The new baby looks lovely! Hope all goes well and you have a new bundle home soon!

We said after losing our rottie at the start of the year we wasnt having another but the house just wasnt the same without one and Chloe was really sad on her own and we ended up with a new one in April.

Sorry (belated) to hear about Miki

Good look with wee one - he looks a little bundle of fun.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I've never had a cat, but I lost a dog when i was 18 and I still think about him most days. I always wondered if the bond between a person and a cat can be as strong as that between a person and a dog, I guess I'll never know cos I am not really a cat person.

We don't have cats at the moment. My wife found our first one in Hong Kong, a street kitten that she kept an eye on for a few days, and concluded that mum wasn't around because she was getting weaker all the time, and adopted. She lived to 21. We've had several other cats, but the last one died about two years ago. I loved them, and still miss them, but the time isn't right for another cat right now. Things are a bit unsettled, and I'm thinking of going back to South Africa for various reasons. Just can't really settle in the UK. There's no quarantine there, but we've spent a fortune moving cats around the world for years, and I'm just not up for that again. I know we will share our lives with cats again, one day, and if we don't.........well my daughter will definitely carry on the tradition!

And that's exactly how I was until we got our first cat. When I was 5, my dad brought home a Labrador pup and she lived until I was 20! It wasn't just a case of her being like family, as far as I was concerned she WAS family.

After I got married, our neighbour's cat had kittens and Sue asked if we could have one. I said that I wasn't a cat person but as long as she looked after it I suppose it's ok. It didn't take long for the ball of fur to get to me and it hurt when she died every bit as much as when our Labrador went.

Sorry to hear of your loss Marc, its always difficult when a pet passes on.
We get so used to them being about that they literally do become one of the gang.
I have to say I like the affection a cat gives you (when it wants too :D )

Your potential new arrival looks like a bundle of fun though! Will look forward to seeing more pictures of it if all goes well with the re-homing.

Ironically, as I sit here now typing this message our 2 year old black cat Hamish is resting in my lap purring and drooling away! You can't beat it.

That's absolutely appalling. You'd think that they'd be happy that people were willing to take the animal, considering the alternative is euthanasia.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your kitteh. I lost a dog earlier this year to cancer, and another to old age about one year ago. The loss of a pet is utterly devastating and not understood by those who don't have any. For me, the grief was as strong as any human loss I've experienced.

Unfortunately there are jobsworths in all walks of life.

Thanks Leigh, sorry to hear about your doggies.

But.... it's........ it's........ GINGER!

All the best cats are gingers and we're lucky enough to have a lady ginger. Just want a male calico now to buck both trends!
