I just said goodbye to my lovely little D40x, and trusty old Lowepro bag, and grip, etc etc (not my any of my lenses though), and I was actually quite sad. I've been so excited and looking forward to upgrading that I didn't stop to think at all. Has anyone else felt quite sad when selling on their first DSLR as part of an upgrade? Luckily, I know it's gone to a good home as someone in my building at work has bought it and she seems SUPER excited. But it was the first time I actually thought of my camera as part of me, rather than just a toy. I actually uttered the words "Promise you'll look after it".

However, my sadness is also tinged with excitement as tomorrow I'll be taking delivery of a (slightly) used D300s. Bought from Tony in the Classifieds section. Got my Nikon 16-85mm, my Tokina 50-135mm, am budgeting for a SWA and a Super Tele, got my redsnapper Tripod, just bought a Hitech filter set comprising 0.3, 0.6 & 0.9 ND's and soft edged ND grads. I'm ready to take my photography onto the next level. So excited!

lucky so and so! :D

That's my next body, really want one before Sat as I have a wedding to attend as a guest but the missus isn't having it just yet :(

I don't think i'll be getting rid of my D60 though, it was my first proper DLSR. It may get converted though to IR :)

I still can't believe I'm getting one. I was literally dead set on a new D90, with the cashback offer until the end of this month, then saw Tony's barely used D300s for sale on here, and spent about an hour trying to convince myself not to. But then did it anyway. My reasoning was that if I get a D90 now, in a couple of years I'll get itchy feet (fingers?!) again, and end up upgrading AGAIN, so thought I'd spend a lot now, but end up saving money in the long term. I can't see me going full frame. He says..

Always feel like that - that's why I have a drawer full of bodies! Can't bear to move them on :(

yes - I've only just become aware of this

put my Canon A1 and 4 lenses up for sale - actually glad nobody bought them

then put present D40 up too towards a D90
then talked myself out of a D90 - beginning to think it was cos didn't want my first DSLR to go

STUPID or what !:bonk:

Got my D300s already. Have forgotten all about my old D40x. Even with just the body (why didn't I bring a lens into work to test it out?!) I love it. Wonderful feel and fit to it

Neglected, tossed out and forgotten .....:shake:

seriously, enjoy - there's a whole weekend shooting coming ...

I know how you feel, I had a Pentax K10D, my first dslr. I loved it and have some great pictures from it. I moved to ff and got my D700, but I was sad to part with my first baby............things were simpler then too....lol.
