I just said goodbye to my lovely little D40x, and trusty old Lowepro bag, and grip, etc etc (not my any of my lenses though), and I was actually quite sad. I've been so excited and looking forward to upgrading that I didn't stop to think at all. Has anyone else felt quite sad when selling on their first DSLR as part of an upgrade? Luckily, I know it's gone to a good home as someone in my building at work has bought it and she seems SUPER excited. But it was the first time I actually thought of my camera as part of me, rather than just a toy. I actually uttered the words "Promise you'll look after it".
However, my sadness is also tinged with excitement as tomorrow I'll be taking delivery of a (slightly) used D300s. Bought from Tony in the Classifieds section. Got my Nikon 16-85mm, my Tokina 50-135mm, am budgeting for a SWA and a Super Tele, got my redsnapper Tripod, just bought a Hitech filter set comprising 0.3, 0.6 & 0.9 ND's and soft edged ND grads. I'm ready to take my photography onto the next level. So excited!
