At present, I don't actually 'own' a camera and lens, I use the office equipment at weekends when I can. This consists of a Canon 30d and a Canon 70-200 L f4 lens.
I'm looking into maybe buying some equipment of my own and think I've narrowed down what I want, but would appreciate feedback about my choices.
I mainly shoot football matches and was thinking about a Canon 7d as regards the lens I'm a little unsure. I think a Canon 70-200 L 2.8 (non IS) would be a good choice. But is it worth considering a 70-300 lens? The only thing that possibly puts me off is that the 70-200 I currently use isn't too bad in terms of handling and weight, and I'm guessing that the 70-300 would be more unwieldy.

The extra stop will be great for lower light days and it will also give you better separation with the narrower DOF. The only thing that makes the 2.8 heavy is the IS unit, if you are shooting sport, the S/S will be sufficient to overcome any camera shake especially being able to shoot one stop faster(2.8)
