Well I do try to do my domestic goddess bit at least once a year.

It's become a bit of a tradition for me to have one full day of baking just before Christmas - then I take all the goodies round to friends and family with their Christmas gifts.

There's something really therapeutic about starting with a pile of raw ingredients and producing something yummy at the end of it . . . and it tastes so much better too (especially when it's all just come out of the oven and is still piping hot)

This year I've made :

cakes (with 3 x different fillings)
sausage Rolls
mini pasties (2 x different types)
scotch eggs
fruit loaf
cheese & onion bread

And I'll be making on some homemade chestnut stuffing for the turkey later this afternoon.

Thought I'd share a couple of pics from this year's effort :

Hmmmm yummy... I'm hungry now... Looks like you've got some form of production line going there Sarah

You are sooooooooo right things taste better home cooked.

I make most things from scratch.

And Nigellas best tip for me is for the ham....bolied then simmer it in COCA COLA.......delicious, mine is bubbling away right now...

  It did get a bit like a production line in the end.
I started at 7:30 Tuesday morning and finished up at around 8pm - then yesterday was the trek around to the family to give them all out.

Yummmmmy!!!! I've seen that recipe for ham in cola but never tried it.
I might add that to my list for next year.

You just can't beat home cooking.

And I keep telling myself that all the running around preparing it burns off enough calories to justify stuffing my face when I've finished. :D

Thanks for showing us those pictures.........I've probably gone and put on a few pounds just looking at them. :(

I do agree with you - home cooking is unbeatable.

Beautiful, can't beat a bit of Nigella, easy on the stomach, easy on the ears and easy on the eye - one sexy lady! :)

surely with your username you'd be concentrating on suites and gateaux's though

Love the pics Sarah.

I make Nigella's Christmas chutney every year. Goes down a treat.

And I really miss making cakes but if I eat them I end up the size of an elephant :(

mmmmmmm, Nigella

Sorry, I mean mmmmmmm, cakes!

I hope the recipients appreciate them.

Thanks all.

As Wibbly said, I try to live up to my user name

And Jill, you're forgetting one of the golden rules of the magic of Christmas. Between 24th December and 1st January all chocolate and cake actually contains negative calories ;)
(and if I say that often enough I might actually convince myself that it's true)
