Radio 5 live has just announced that the Welsh manager Garry Speed has died.
Hopefully this will raise some much needed attention about depression. Too many people assume if you have a good job, car, wife, kids it means you can't have anything to be unhappy about, the harsh truth is depression does not work like that.
It doesn't respect your achievements in life, it doesn't care how many kids you have it can strike at any time and when it does everything else is thrown out of perspective, it is a crippling illness! Stan Collymore posted a blog about this very subject on friday night.
I just hope this will raise awareness as there is still too much ignorance about the causes of depression, how people cope and the severe effect it can have on people.
R.I.P Gary Speed, a footballer i always enjoyed watching growing up and he looked to have a promising career as a manager.
Couldn't believe what I was hearing this morning. He was one of those players who was respected by fans of all teams. I watched the very moving scenes prior to kick off at The Liberty, the spontaneous applause during the minute's "silence" brought a lump to my throat. How hard must that have been for Shay Given.
RIP Gary, a life way too short but you gave so much with it.
Right, I've cleaned the thread. Can we please stick to the reason it was started and resist the urge to speculate and spread rumours
Thank you
Speed and mcallister were the best midfield partnership by a mile.
Rumours abound that the Sun was investigating him.
