gadget of the decade?

You would be if it was true... but then again that is my point ...I could be...so that is why...

the digital camera.
gone are the days of waiting for prints to see your results, and wondering if you messed up on that vital shot, you have them on camera lcd look at.
Re compose and make adjustments, experiment/exposure change in seconds.
run of the mill now,but quite amazing when you consider how far we have come since i got my nikon f4s film camera in 1995 for a staggering £2k, and my first digital camera a coolpix 100, £600 and 0.3 megapixels.
looking back, the changes and advancements made are nothing short of astounding.

the f4s still takes a nice pic though :)

Has to be the Ipod...any Ipod...just the Ipod....the Iphone uses Ipod Tech + a phone...but the Ipod has to be the gadget of the decade without doubt...

Followed closely by the mass market digital camera.

 spotted it on the Gadget Show and the wifes eyes lit up as she's a big reader, orded one from Sony as a pre-order and was delivered on the day of release. She uses it every day.

Hi, not sure if Mrs Foggy4ever already knows about it but there is an excellent forum for these devices called Mobileread. Full of helpful advice and nice people; just like this one is!

Numero One:
The JESUS Camera (aka D3). Whilst I was new on the scene, it was still obvious it shifted the goalposts in terms of what a Digital Camera could do, especially with the ISO. Even to this day, it's an awesome bit of kit.

Numero Two:
The JESUS Phone. Sublime little number by Apple, it really is a perfect device.

Gary.

iPhone for me. Nothing even comes close.

I'm going to keep things simple - I am a gadget freak (just ask my poor girlfriend!) but the best gadget I've discovered recently, photography wise, is the cheap M42 to EOS adaptor - it's saved me a fortune!!

I also love my Mac, and my radio triggers (cheapy gadget infinity ones, V4's)

I really fancy one of these E book reader thingies, does the Sony one support PDF's, HTML and WORD documents (read only) as well as the Ebook format? (I know one of them does, as well as greyscale JPEGs but not sure which one)

GPS tracker.

Gives me half a clue as to where I currently am, and where I have been.

Canon 300D.... the first DSLR under £1000 with kit lens (which meant I could afford it); in fact i seem to remember all the others were over £2000 in 2003. It has over a 5.5MP sensor, which was deemed to be the acceptable level to compete with film (at the time). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_300D

It certainly was a revolution, it was my first DSLR and re-awakwned my love of photography (especially photographing birds).

In gadget terms, the ipod has changed the way music is both listened to and bought. It may not have been the first, but it is still the one to beat.

Yeah I love my Ipod, being able to carry 1000+ ablums everywhere with me is great.

Two others 'gadgets' that I love are the new micro 4/3rds cameras. The G1 was a bold move by Panasonic and it seems to have worked, I suspect that as more cameras and lenses are launched it will become a very popular system. But probably my favourie gadget is my Nokia E71 - phone, internet and Satnav in a small package.

Well I got to say the iPhone. , the iPod changed the way we listen to music, the iPod took that and added wireless Internet and a phone , brilliant

I think for photography this has to be it. It's a phone, a portfolio carrier, has the manual for my camera on it, a solar calculator etc etc

i cant afford an iphone as im only 16 without a part time job but i really want an ipod touch, pretty much the same as the iphone except its slimmer and doesnt have phone capabilities.

MP3 players generically. Not fussed which brand (although I am happier without the i prefix) just as long as I can have hundreds of tracks on a device the size of my thumb with enough battery life to last me for the flights to and from holiday as well as a couple of days on the beach.

So did I but on a Nikon D100.

What a waste of money that was. It never gets used now. I could have bought lots of of cameras I actually want with that much money but at the time I thought it was what I wanted.

Steve.

At least you spend £1000 on a DSLR, I didnt know much about cameras 6 years ago and spend similar amount of money on a Sony f828, from Jon lewis, biggest mistake in my life. dont get me wrong the image quality was not bad for a camera in its class but everything else about it was junk. #i still got it by the way :)

The fully "functional" lifesize replica of Cheryl Cole (batteries included) that I have on my Christmas list.

Without a doubt the winner is the iPhone, iTunes and the app store combined. Each one is revolutionary but together they have changed the world forever

It's hard to define a 'gadget' however perhaps one of the innovations that links to all the posters experinence is fast broadband access. without this most of the cameras, Mp3 players and the ability to download would be rendered difficult if not inpossible to use

Perhaps the biggest inovation of all are sites like this , which allow us ( we) to meet in a safe and collegial environment to talk about our hobby, our hopes and asperations, share successes and sometimes disapointments with supportive individuals.

For all the technology we still need conectednes to each other and that tecnology will never repalce.;)

Photography wise for me it has to be Photoshop Lightroom a complete game changer for post production and workflow.

As a general gadget it has to be the iPhone, there have been smart phones around with many of the same features for quite a while now, but they didn't do them anywhere near as well and were pretty much only used by geeks. the iPhone has brought smartphone features to the masses and along with iTunes and the App store has made it a useful gadget in all walks of life.

Archos 5 the best thing I've got for years. oh but I have got some lovely Nikon cameras but there more like family to me.
