Full set of focal lengths- Nikon and Canon - how much for the best glass? :)

now that is a lot more realistic.
to add to my existing kit it would be:
24-70 f2.8L
mpe65
100-400 L

i would also like a 17-55 or 16-35L

that would cover me from 17-400 quite nicely.
 
Slightly off topic but why don't Nikon make any good fast wide primes? There seem to be no equivalents to the Canon 24mm and 35mm f/1.4 L lenses. There is the 28mm 1.4 but it's meant to be a bit lame?

I have the 14 to 24 f2.8 ed, and I dunno if its prime or not, but apparently, according to many reviews, its one of the best wide lenses on the planet (if not THE best). Clearly overkill for me, but I still like it :)

Ahh, prime just means fixed focal length i.e. is just 50mm, no zoomage.

A lot of money, you could snip that down to just two zooms, and a prime though for most people.

Glass like that would be wasted on me :lol:

Some people must have the whole set, really are talking serious money there though!!
 
If I could only have three?

16-35mm f2.8
24-70mm f2.8
70-200mm f2.8IS

Then I'd have to cheat and sneak in a 100-400mm!
 
I could manage with a 24 or 28-70, a 70-200 and a 300mm f/4 with a nice 1.4x TC.
