Firstly apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but can't seem to find an answer to my question.

I am looking to purchase swabs 24mm wide to clean the sensor of a Canon 5D m3. I already have the Digipad kit with Eclipse fluid and 17mm pads which I have previously used (very successfully) on a Canon 30D, but I now want to clean the Full frame sensor on the 5D. I believe its possible to use the 17mm swabs but this would entail a double wipe across the sensor and I feel that a 24mm wide swab would be more logical and a better solution.
I can find places to buy these but they are selling for what I call a "RIP OFF" price...especially when you consider what they are made of.

Can anyone recommend a cheap source of these. ?

An American company called Copperhill has the products and can supply a kit which enables you to replace the pad on the spatula once it has been used, which seems to me a very sensible solution but again the price is very high and the product has to come from the USA. I was wondering if anyone has found a UK company able to supply something similar at a sensible price?

Hey fella, I use THESE GUYS and have done through all my cameras from crop to full and back again, just check the compatibility chart for the correct size - may not be the cheapest but why spend all that money on kit and use an old dishcloth to clean it ;)

Hope that helps

.DAVID.

Thanks for that David but these are not exactly cheap at over £3 a swab.!:shake:

I can get the same thing on Ebay for £32 :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sensor-Cl...231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35b6111fb7 -- but still expensive :shake:

I can get these :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Visible-D...866?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c29c692da - but still expensive at 12 for £33 . :shake:

These are more in line with the price that I think is reasonable ie 6 for £8.00 :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New...igital_Camera_Accessories&hash=item3cc38346bf ....but I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has had any experience of using these or anything similar in this price bracket ?

Used these on my 5D MK1 when it needed doing - spot on.

Who was the chap that used to sell them on here, can anyone remember? think he had "flash" in his username, but could be wrong

Thanks everyone for your replies.
The Digipads offer seems to be reasonably priced and is a product I have used previously so I think I'll go with those. I must have missed this when I first went to the Digipads website :bonk:

any watchouts with these pads? I've got a D3 sensor to clean and at £75 a time at Fixations it gets pretty expensive...

Just be gentle and take your time. Also do it under a good light where there's no dust flying about - and no-one to disturb you while you're doing it..

If the sensor is very dirty then you're unlikely to get all the crud off in one go.

Bear in mind that there is actually a glass filter in front of the sensor - so in actual fact this is what you'll be wiping - not the sensor itself.

the sensor is not too bad but it was atrocious before I took it to Fixations for the first time. guess I got complacent with the system in the Pentax - but the D3 really does attract muck though
