Yes
i recently stepped up from using a Canon A460 to a Finepix s2000hd after gathering info here on the forum and so glad i did. My photography has defo improved! so many Finepix on ebay all dirt cheap i just settled on a s2000hd for no reason really.Im now wondering, amongst all the finepix models [so many, what is that all about?] does anybody know if there was a golden goose, the one to take the best still images ,the one to covet rather than the also-rans as it were? im taking still images of artwork from about 6ft distance outdoors in good light . Appreciate any info on this

The S2000 didn't go well with some reviewers ...

But its greatest failing is in image quality.

Detail was obscured even at low ISOs and color was streaky and inaccurate. Highlights were blown on almost every shot I took. And as ISO went up, the problems just got worse.
On the other hand, the SL300 that I bought from a charity shop for all of £5, gave me some pictures with which I am very happy. I gave it to another charity shop and hope that, whoever bought it, was equally pleased.

The original Finepix X100 produces fabulous pictures. Fixed focal length. May not suit your style.

Golden goose for the FinePix range was any of the later camera's with a SuperCCD sensor in my opinion. The bridge cameras like the S9600 were my favourites. There was a couple DSLR bodies that used SuperCCD's too. Last one was the S5; A Nikon D200 body with their own sensor.

cheers for all info! i think im going to stick with this S2000hd for now,not look to upgrade even tho theres dozens of dirt cheap Finepixes on ebay as the one i got its doing what i need defo has nice colours

,im never going to be taking images in low light ,im just taking still images of artwork outdoors from about 6ft away. From what i read the Finepixes are just Okay and crappy video ,nobodys raving about them , likely is just another outdated run of the mill camera .

The early X series cameras that were still called Finepix were all great. The super zoom X-S1, the classic design shorter bright zoom X10 and the large sensor prime lens X100.

I never had the X-S1 but heard it had a very good lens, it used the same 1/1.7 inch 12 MP EXR sensor as the X10 which I used a lot and really liked, it has an incredible good lens which is important for a compact camera. The sensor is a bit tricky to use with it's different modes of combining pixels, and those tricks are obsolete nowadays with better sensor technology. I still use the successor X20 which has a normal, more modern sensor but still the same great lens. It still makes great pictures and is beautiful to use as well.

The X100 is a great camera and I still use the original sometimes. This camera is still made, now in the 6th Iteration, but Fujifilm dropped the Finepix brand in the second iteration, like with the X20. This camera brought me to Fujifilm and I still use their X system cameras today. For buying an X100 today I would go at least for the second X100s since it has many small improvements.

Not sure if these now called X-series cameras can really be considered Finepix, but I guess the first iteration had a lot of the previous spirit, especially with the EXR sensor in the smaller cameras. But they had nice new features as well, like in-camera RAW processing, not sure if the X-S1 has that but I assume it should since it shares the electronics with the X10.
