Fuji x100

I sold my X100 and bought an X100s, keeping my X10.
Then, I was seduced in a local camera shop by a silver X20. The Devil made me buy it.
Now, I have the perfect pair

Oooo errrrrr

Had a few days in North Wales over the weekend. It rained incessantly for three days. Got a handful of snaps during the one hour break from the deluge when the clouds broke and we had some blue sky. Followed by a lovely sunset.

With V2 firmware. Not that you'd be able to tell

Great shots but number 2 sticks out for me, really like that

Cheers. Funny how bad weather makes you look for different things to photograph.

all,

Where are the best deals on this at the moment?
Anyone used Valuebasket?

That's got grey import written all over it... Given the warranty situation with greys and the cost of the X100S I'd prefer to stick with UK supplied kit. Or, if you really want a grey, use one of the larger well established outfits, like digitalrev, but even then there's no real guarantee if something goes wrong.

Cheapest UK price is till around £960 according to CPB.

Or Fuji refurbished although out of stock at the min - £850

Also, my black X100 turned up today :D a few weeks after selling my silver I decided I missed it too much!

One of the reasons why; ISO 2000, f2, 1/40th:

The detail is great if I do say so myself ;)

Excellent shot! I just love the way the X100 makes things look hyper realistic without looking over processed... Such a good trick!

Still hooked on my black LE with V2 firmware here... No desire whatsoever to upgrade, despite having a nosey at the S and all the new Fuji kit in Calumet about three hours ago! I really think this may be a keeper, but who knows... Especially if a black S is released :D

I thought my 100 was a keeper, till I had a go with a 100s.
Now that is my keeper

Wow, That's quite an edorsement !

My ship is in Bahrain at the moment and There is an accredited offical Fuji dealer in town.... guess where i'm heading off when leave is finally piped !!!!

Although I love my X10 things have to move on,the quality has improved so dramacticly.

some nice photo's in that Tuscany set....

I was thinking about picking up the X100 as backup / walk around to my Nikon that i currently use but know i see the X100s is out.

As it is not going to be the primary camera do you think the difference in the 100S is substantial enough

Thanks for the kind comments...

For a second camera, its a difficult call, though since getting the X100 a year ago, I've only taken the DSLR (40D) out the house once, and that was to shoot a load of school prom pictures where I wanted to use a 50mm f1.8 and have fast AF. Very roughly an X100S is twice the price of an X100, twice the camera probably not especially since the v2.0 firmware upgrade for the X100, but if there are features in the S that you want or want the benefit of the posher sensor/faster AF, then go for an S.

I just love my X100, and its a definite keeper, even though I bought an X-E1 on Saturday with 35mm lens (and free 18mm to come) and pre-ordered an X-E2 with zoom lens!!!

Keep getting temped by an X100,it's just finding one at the right price and making sure no SBA :)

Definitely do it ;) Just check the serial number beforehand, making sure it begins with 21 or above just to be sure. Check on specific Fuji X forums and AVF, ive seen a few for sale over the past fortnight or so at decent prices.

Seen a few up,last one on another forum was 12

View attachment 278 View attachment 277 Hi,

Thought I would add another couple last one with a PSE filter applied.

A portion of Ravello's main square.

I nearly got shot of this camera a couple of weeks ago on this Website but things weren't meant to be so I kept it.
After revaluating the images I had taken with it, I think it was providence that helped me in keeping it.

In fairness, a good friend of mine (who actually made me get the X100) got one as soon as it came out and has never had any problems with it, not worth risking it used though. Especially when it doesnt seem to have any bearing on price which I found a bit odd but still!

Nows as good-a-time as any though, I cant believe the price of it now - yes its dropped massively since it was released as to be expected but the body and that lens, if you look at the XE-1 with equivalent lens youre looking at £1000+ still. You just have to really like the focal length for it to be such a good deal though! Thankfully, I do ;)

I'm in the market for one of these, any advice? I've heard about the SAB problem I just avoid anything with a serial number below 21 right? Anything else to consider?

Just the usual precautions with buying anything secondhand; the price difference between retailers and eBay/classifieds isnt that great, so id always go to a retailer if possible just for that extra protection, just dont be afraid to ask for some high-res files at all different apertures not just looking for SAB but other lens issues (some have known to be 'soft' on one side but you dont hear about that very often!). Refurbished on the Fuji site is the best option but theyre always out of stock so wouldnt really rely on that. Aside from that id probably only really want to buy one from LCE, MPB, here or some other camera forums :)

You can register your email address for notification when stock comes in. I've had 3 or 4 emails in the last 2 months, so it's not too bad.

The x100 is an amazing bit if kit
I would not part with mine even for an s
I got rid of a canon 1d for my x100 i dont miss it one bit
The 100 goes everywhere with me
The v2 firmware has made massive improvements but it has also put the secondhand prices up
Check out ebay just try to find one you can collect or from someone with really good feedback
Im just biding my time waiting for the rumourerd full frame version

Chris

There was on Fuji refurbished yesterday, I got an email about it. Its out of stock again now but just shows they dont last very long on there!

ver 2.01 is available for the X100. This was annoying but easily worked around. Good that Fuji fixed it. I suspect this will be the last update for the X100. Though there are rumours that v3.0 will bring a full frame sensor upgrade.

The firmware update Ver.2.01 from ver.2.00 incorporates the following issue:
The phenomenon is fixed that in Manual Focus mode, repeated pressing the shutter button halfway or repeated recording images could move focus position and the distance indicator to near side.

Some Autumnal shots from a walk at the weekend. I really didn't have my head screwed on. Started out half asleep not realising I had the expo comp dial a stop under! Had to push the exposure a fair bit in Lightroom. Also I didn't realise just how much the shutter speed would drop in the cover of woodland and I had the camera set to not drop the shutter below 1/100. Consequently most of these are at pretty high ISO. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I'm sure we all have days like that. Don't we? :D

Great shots! May I ask how you edited the first two and the fifth? They have a really nice look to them :)

Thanks. Those three are tweaked in Lightroom with FujiFilm Provia 400X from VSCO 4. The RAW files themselves didn't look half bad straight off the sensor.

Wow! Had a play with an S today and was amazed how much better it is than the original. Much faster and snappier and also the af selection was much better. Had decided on an xpro but now not so sure.

On a side note, any reason why face detection is not on these (or the pro)? Seems silly not to have it.

I got my X100 last week and I love it. £450 for a good condition X100, it's 23 S/N so SAB free, and came boxed with case, hood and a genuine spare battery. I'm quite pleased light wear on the case and body but nothing major. I'm loving it so far it feels great to use, although I haven't taken it properly out. The low light performance is excellent. Also I had a strange moment when something occurred to me, the first proper camera I used was over 10 years ago in college. It was my Dads old Fujica AZ1.

I appear to have come full circle!

I don't fancy trawling through 60+ pages of thread, so can anyone catch me up on any tips for getting the best of of it?

Tip number one: don't be put off using the onboard flash. It's lovely, especially dialed down 2/3 of a stop as a fill flash.
tip number two: install the newest firmware, if it doesn't have it already. BIG improvements.

I'm sure there's lots of great info in this thread but like you say you have to wade through it all. Take a look at the stickies here, some great tips and info. http://www.fujix-forum.com/index.php/forum/6-x100-and-x100s-discussion/

I installed v2 as one of the first things I did however I've just read about v2.01 which will go on tonight!

Yes 2.01 fixed the focus shift bug in MF, introduced in v2.0! Looks like v2.01 will be the final firmware.
