Fuji x100

Hi Trevorbray.. When you say on board flash, do you refer to the built in flash? I haven't experimented with high shutter flash sync yet. Got any tips on that?

Sorry, yeah built in flash. I've tried it with Nikon Speedlight SB900 mounted. Works great too, manual flash mode only though.

Tips....I'm still experimenting myself.

Well an update on my X100, tried a few more shots and also looked at the iris and I do think I am suffering from a SAB issue, it seems to go away if I keep pressing the shutter halfway and then the metering seems to be more like I would expect

So this refurb didn't last me long :(

If it definitely is SAB - phone Fuji ASAP. I had a replacement x100 in my hand 5 days after making the initial contact. I also asked for one with a newer serial number.

Thanks, I've just dropped them an email, if I don't here back I'll give them a ring tomorrow and ask if I can have a newer one - or perhaps if they felt kind a brand new one :)

UPDATE: I heard back from them this morning and I asked about a newer one and they've said they can reserve a 22 serial one and they are sending out the prepaid returns bag so I hopefully shouldn't be without a camera for long

Would like to ask some questions for you x100 users :)

- how do you deal with parallax error? is this a big deal? I've read that the firmware update already resolve this...?
- can you see the lens tip/barrel when using the OVF? same with the x10?

Thanks! :)

I have never noticed the parallax issue but I don't tend to do close up and when I do it is macro which switches to EVF anyway.

No you can't see the lens when using the OVF, it is way too small. It is only if you put a lens hood on that the OVF starts to be obscured.

As ernesta says, there is no parallax error using the EVF as the image comes through the lens.
Using the OVF you will notice there are 2 focus boxes on the screen, one in the centre and one diagonally down to the right. As you focus on closer subjects, the green focus box starts to move gradually down to the right so you can easily see the area in focus.
Brilliant idea.
Allan

Oh, just noticed you can see a small portion of the lens through the OVF, but, the view through the OVF is far larger than the captured image size, which is outlined on the screen. The lens doesn't intrude in this area.

Hi allanm, thanks for the information. I'm thinking to get the x100, bit worried about the parallax error. I intend to use the x100's OVF more compare to its EVF.

I mainly use the OVF unless its getting dark ( or for macro) and have never had an issue with focus error caused by parallax. It works beautifully

Just an update to keep this thread going. Still really enjoying this camera, so much fun and keep being surprised by it:

I can almost feel the warmth of the sun in that first one, John. Very nice!

Thanks Will, they were not planned shots, I went out with dog and on the way home saw there was going to be a nice sunset so thought I'd watch it. That's the great thing about this camera, wherever I go, the X100 goes! :)

I do like the Butchers one Keith.
You're right very unusual to see nowadays.

Thanks. Hope it survives for a good time yet :)

Has anybody found created a lightroom template to mimic the X100 Velvia /Astia / Provia settings?

And one more item on my x100 wish list.
Please tell me why you will not select the flash. After pressing the button repeatedly it occurred to me that bracketing mode was on, but a little hint would be nice!

Had a play trying long exposures this evening. This was a 20 sec exposure taken at ISO100, f16. I used aperture priority and the bulb setting. As it was still relatively light I also used the built in ND filter and added a polarising filter. I shot in JPEG. Minimal PP and a frame added in Snapseed:

Oh, and includes a couple of ghostly fishermen!

Thank you Allan! :)
Now the question is, will I go for the silver one or the black limited edition? :)

If you're going for a new one the black one (with the accessories) is a good price over at Amazon for £650, compared to £600 for the silver without any accessories... or the other possibility is a silver refurb for £500 from Fuji (which is what I recently went for)

They both look great, though I think I preferred the silver one because of the memories it brings back from my old cameras

Has anyone had an email from Fuji UK offering a SuperWarranty?
Thank you for buying your FUJIFILM X100. We are sure that you will have enjoyed using it and seen some fantastic results.

As you know, your camera is covered against component failure for the first year after purchase. However, accidents can happen leading to unwelcome repair bills. This is where a FUJIFILM SuperWarranty can protect the investment which you have made in your X100.

Why should you buy a Fujifilm SuperWarranty?

When you buy a FUJIFILM SuperWarranty, your camera is protected against breakdown and accidental damage once your one year manufacturer's warranty expires, plus you receive the additional accidental damage cover during the period of your manufacturer's warranty.

You also have the peace of mind in knowing that your cover comes directly from FUJIFILM UK and your camera will only be worked on by FUJIFILM trained technicians.
Where to buy

The price to cover your camera for two years is only £70.00 and a three year policy costs £100.00. You can buy a SuperWarranty quickly and easily by visiting the website below:

http://shop.fujifilm.co.uk/superwarranty

If you have any questions, please call our SuperWarranty team on 0844 553 2325 who will be happy to help.

Just wondering if anyone thinks it's worth going with? The accidental damage insurance is handy I think, otherwise I'd be fairly confident that the premium service I got by purchasing it from Digital Depot will see me through the next year.

Love this Keith. Very well seen, super shot.

Thanks mate. Getting more impressed with this camera every time I take it out to play:)

....... will I go for the silver one or the black limited edition? :)

I personally like the silver edition. It has a very retro look to it. My recommendation would be silver.

On the other hand, if the black one had been available when I bought mine, I would have gone for the black. It has a very retro look to it. Get the black one.

Hope this helps.... :naughty:

Excellent for street too!

Just ordered a refurb X100 from the Fuji site (£450). Very excited now!

Will have to sell all my M43 kit to pay for it though.

I prefer the silver one. But with the rarity? of the black edition and the accessories included I'm leaning to the special edition..

Do you think the included accessories in the limited edition is worth it for its price?

All depends if you make use of them. I bought a cheap hood and don't tend to use it as it means the camera won't fit in it's case or a coat pocket. I also use a cheap replica faux leather case and am happy with the job it does.

I also prefer the look of the silver...

Just a portrait shot on the street with very little PP work other than conversion and vignetting... (on the X100 of course!)
