Fuji x100

Go for it. I bought one last week and have been very impressed so far. Fuji seems to have improved greatly since I had my S3 Pro, I even went out yesterday and bought its little brother, the X10. Very pleased with that too. I know both cameras have issues, but their customer service and turnaround of repairs seem impressive after reading of other peoples experiences
Allan
What made you go for the x10 Allan?..Was it just for the zoom?..How do you find it compared to the x100

Just thought i'd pop in and share my excitement  as of yesterday I am officially the owner of a brand new Fujifilm x100, and I am in love with this little beast!!

I also purchased the genuine leather case, yes it is expensive.. but i'm so pleased I decided to splash out as they are truly made for eachother! One comment, I am 4ft 11" and the strap when it's lengthened as long as it can go is JUST long enough for me to wear it like a satchel.. If you are very tall you would have to wear it round your neck, if that makes sense - just FYI :)

One of my reasons for buying the Fuji x100 are that I am going on a 2 week honeymoon to Disneyworld at the end of this year  and I wanted a compact camera which is convenient to take round the busy parks without the hassle of having to carry extra lenses/equipment, and that has the ability to perform like a DSLR, and after reading lots of reviews and deciding to compromise on the fixed lens and the other little niggles i've read about in length.. I finally took the plunge! so far (yes it's only been 24hours..) I have no regrets, it's a stunner!! It's by far the sexiest camera on the market ;) I literally cannot wait to get out and experiment with it some more :D

I hope this helps someone else thinking of purchasing the Fuji x100.

Summary: GO FOR IT!!

I have another D300 ( now up for sale) that just isn't being used again. Too bulky for me at the moment, but a brilliant camera.
I wanted a zoom lens in a small body and after looking through the X10 thread, came across Lyndsays photos.
Well, after seeing what this little camera can achieve, and reading non too glowing reports of the new Canon G1X, which is what I was originally thinking of, I decided to go for the little Fuji.
Very pleased with the results, which are surprisingly good. Resolution isn't the same as I can get out of the D300, but its close enough for me to enjoy using it and looking at the images it takes.
And, it complements the X100 perfectly, shame it isn't half silver though....

I sold my Nikon gear and bought this because i was getting tired of lugging all that gear around. It is the best decision iv ever made.
Here are some shots from my first week with it.

A couple from a camping trip to the new forest.

The best thing about the camera is the way it captures in black and white!

Nice shots Lee and I also sold my nikon gear for this and tbh not missed it yet!

Battery.... charging... taking... forever...! If this camera performs half as well as it looks and feels I'm going to be a happy chappy :)

I might even read the manual whilst I'm waiting...

lol Yeah that first charge seems to take forever! So worth it though.

My camera was supposed to be delivered to my office today.

It never tuned up.

Got home tonight and used the Parcelforce tracking. It was delivered (somewhere) this afternoon. The address is correct, but I've never heard of the person who accepted the delivery and the signature is just a curly line.

Guess they delivered to the wrong address and someone has a shinny new X100.

Not impressed. :(

That sounds a bit naughty. I assume you can find out who signed for it? It's probably sitting on someones desk waiting for you to collect it

Sorry to hear about this rather cross-making episode. Thought they had to print their name along with providing a siggy. Hope your X100 turns up in the morning.

Yes there is a printed name too. But it isn't anyone who works here.

I think it has definitely been delivered to the wrong address.

I've logged a query with Parcel Force, and they say they will come back to me in about 12 working hours.

Sorry to hear that Kev lets hope you get the camera asap!! Spoke to fuji about mine today and wont be fixed until earliest the end of next week.:( Awaiting parts for it which should be in on wednesday..

Its going to be a long week!
I was just thinking, is it under 30 days old? I thought the retailer would just replace any camera with a new one that went faulty within the first 30 days?
Allan

:thinking:Mmm not sure mate if they should or would as I contacted fuji direct.Am I within my rights to get a replacement then as its under 30 days?

Well just this minute rang Clifton cameras and have to say they were superb about it.If we had contacted them first they would have replaced it straight away:bang: As it stands now they are going to get on to fuji and ask why they havent directly replaced it seeing as its less than 30 days old.Fuji had a copy of the receipt so know its under the 30 day period and should have either replaced it or advised us to contact Clifton to get an exchange not order parts for a repair.

Thats the usual process, however some stores ( Like SunDigital.co.uk) seem to do whatever they want. I bought a Nikon P7000 from Sun Digital and sent it to them expecting them to replace it under the standard 30 day terms and they sent it to Nikon to repair. It took almost 3 weeks to get it back, I was not happy, but they were so arrogant when I rang them, I swore I would never use them again.

But, glad to see Clifton are dealing with your issue promptly, it just shows, good service brings the customers, and something like this is good free advertising for them. (Unlike www.SunDigital.co.uk where it is free bad advertising! :nono: )
Allan

Yep Clifton were really good. They are contacting fuji direct themselves on Monday to ask why they are going ahead with a repair on a camera under 30 days old .He also assured me I will be getting a brand new x100 and not the old one back.Obviously gutted it went wrong in the first place but cannot fault Clifton from the day I rang about ordering one right up to now..they have been top notch and very professional.
Thought I recognised sun digital they trade from a town 10 mins from me and rang them once about a camera and all seemed very dodgy...

So, with luck, you should be back in business early next week then?
www.SunDigital.co.uk near you? Bunch of cowboys!

Oops sorry to hear about the SD card Stuart. Perhaps you could prevail on the existing goodwill and secure it's safe return. Good news on the replacement though. If when received you would still rather have my X10 instead, you know where to find me :D

Hi all, would like some advice and your views regarding what I should do next:thinking: Having sold my PEN Ep1 which I hardly used and the Lumix LX3 I am only left with my main camera the Lumix GF1 with 20mm. A lovely combo and so far very pleased with the IQ it produces and eventhough it's 'old' compared to the latest Panasonic offerings, I still love the handling and 'old school' style and compactness.

So the question is should I go for the smaller X10 as a take anywhere compact and keep the GF1/20mm or will I see a hugh improvement in IQ by upgrading to the X100 and sell the GF1/20mm. Now that the X100 is at a 'reasonable price point, would love to try one out and see how it compares to the film days with Contax G2 and Konica Hexar RF

Yeah hoping its not gone walkabout. Thanks for the offer but will stick with x100 ;) :D

Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a nightmare! If it's within a couple of months I always push to get a replacement from the retailer as they have sold something not fit for purpose. Sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't :D

I've been really happy with my dealings with Clifton Cameras so far, I'll definitely beusing them again for any future purchases.

Adapting to the X100 is taking a bit of getting used to, it's a lovely bit of kit though :)

Congrats on your wedding Trudy! Reading your 2 posts made me realise we have quite a bit in common - My wife and I got married back in November last year as well, we have yet to go on our honeymoon and we just bought the X100 for the honeymoon (to Maldives) too! Am loving the X100 but still getting to grips with its functions. Do post your honeymoon photos!

My X100 came back from Fuji the other day, took rather a long time to repair but I'm glad its back!!!

Interesting to see that there are x10's turning up on classified almost daily now....;)

Perhaps they are wishing they had an x100?

Or maybe their just dipping their toes in the Fuji water and its whet their appetite to go all the way.
Glad to hear you got yours back ok.

Glad your X10x10 turned up Mr Cello and yes I couldn't agree more about the teeming population of X10s on the forum.

However while I wish for the looks of a X10x10 I rather prefer to have something more than a 23mm on the front of it's sensor. If only Fuji had given it a zoom. In almost every way the X10 suits me better. Small, light , loaded with features though I do like the hybrid viewfinder of your X10x10 and I live in hope that before long too, the Raw files of my X10 will be welcome on my Mac..... ;)

:naughty: Spoke to clifton today and all sorted they are sending me out a nice new x100:D

Cheers mate..I wouldnt have even thought about a replacement until you said so thanks for that! Should be here tomorrow:love: Also means I have spare box and straps now too lol
