Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

I got 399 shots out of a fully charged battery last time i measured it that was with the Xe1 + 18-55mm lens IS on and most of the composition through the viewfinder.
Set camera to goto sleep after 30 secs.

Thought the very same thing myself, but decided to stay with the xe1 and 18-55 for now.
Might get the 55-200mm, but don't want to defeat the simple and light idea which I have found so much fun recently
5D MKII and lenses still have a use, sold things before then regretted it. Also not sure the xe2 would give me much more so will keep my powder dry and see what Fuji come up with in the future
 
Hardly madness. I've been considering the same tbh. Just agreed to help a mate out shooting some boxing but I can't say I'm that bothered about it tbh but that's the only thing stopping me selling up and getting one.
 
I took my X-E2 along to a fishing club work party the other week to see what it was like for doing some people-doping-things type stuff. Seemed a better bet than actually doing any work.;) The burst mode worked well fro the action, even though it took an age to write the files. I really like the camera, but need to get the battery life improved.:(

Took mine out for a trip to Dover Castle this afternoon, there was a WW2 event in the grounds, great fun....

Great stuff Allan :)

My new X-E1 will be getting some proper action tomorrow. Quick baby test today shows me that it's pretty good at ISO 3200 (about ISO 2000 equivalent to other cameras I guess):

Lens used was a Carl Zeiss Distagon 28/2.8 (Contax/Yashica mount).
 
That's pretty impressive and very clean. Didn't realise they were so good, I had read that the processor produces a waxy look on skin at high ISO, but the little ones eye is so full of detail.

I'm hunting through my Lightroom collection at the moment, comparing high iso files from my now departed Sony a7 to that of the x-e1. At high iso the x-trans sensor seems to produce cleaner detail in raw than the full frame sensor of the a7. I think it's the lack of chroma noise in the Fuji images that makes the difference. Amazing really.

So, my X-E2 mentions Geotagging, the manual says go to P92. P92 tells me to visit a website with apps for the camera. None of the apps cover geotagging!
Anybody use the geotagging function?

Hi all,

X-M1 question here but sure it's applicable to the E-series as well.

Currently have a 50mm zeiss planar 1.4 mounted via a Fotodiox C/Y - Fuji adaptor. However, the camera doesn't recognise that a lens is attached, so I've had to turn on the shoot without lens option. But, even with this setting turned on, I can't use the MF assist Peak option, which makes it difficult to know if the image is in focus when shooting at 1.4 - does anyone know if it's possible to turn this option on/do something to the adaptor so the camera thinks there's a lens attached?

I'm not quick sure I understand which feature you are looking to enable...are you talking about focus peaking or the ability for the camera to zoom in when focus is nearly right? Focusing peaking works fine with my X-E1 and Planar 50/1.4, but obviously needs to be enabled first :)

Got my Xpro-1 up for sale,the photos i took of it are at 6400 iso on an XE-2 :)

Thanks for the reply, yeah it's the option in the settings for MF Assist - with the focus peaking option - whether on high or low setting, it doesn't let me click the thumb wheel to see the highlights to show which areas are in focus. Is there a separate focus peaking I can do without the thumbwheel click? With just the standard setting switched on I can't see any highlights either...
 
Hi

Quite enjoying the X-E1 at the moment! One thing, what do people think of the video? I had a quick go and the quality appeared pretty good but the auto focus was struggling constantly. I imagine it does an ok on manual focus but I'm not that skilled!

Never tried video, supposed to be less than great though,think that goes for the newer models too

Only thing I don't like is the viewfinder eyecup, crappy little thing and doesn't seem anyway to change it
 
Just wondering whether there's a way to improve the video - what I tried was pretty unusable. I've got a Canon HF307 video camera which is a few years old and only around £200 I think so looking to get rid of it once I get a camera that can do similar video but perhaps I'm being too hopeful! I don't really use it but occassionally a bit of video of the kids is fun.
 
Don't think these cameras are usually bought with video in mind so doubt you will get much of an improvement.
Can't recommend anything, never tried video although the Canon 5D MKII I also have is supposed to be pretty decent.
 
Yes agreed - was just hoping that it was acceptable and then I could get rid of the camcorder which barely gets used! A friend of mine also has a 5D mkII and claims he gets some nice video out of it.
 
View attachment 12490 I've been enjoying my old new X-E1, Astia mainly 'cos that's very close to my favoured Olympus colours.
I found that my Jupiter-8 lenses were soft as sh1te on the Fuji but my crappy FED-61 (which was my worstish lens on m4/3rds) is sharper ... so there's a very nice surprise.
I shall post a piccie in a mo ... hmm, pic went to the top, OK.
I think I'll keep this camera.

This close....

This close to pulling the trigger on an x-e2 and getting one of the free lens options....I already have the 18-55 and 35mm so the choices are 18 or 27....both covered by the 18-55 range....

If I go for the 18 could I sell the kit lens perhaps.....
If I go for the 27 it's only f2.8 would I use it over the kit lens, looks very small and portable though....

Decisions.....

Any input anyone?

Doing this will be the kick I need to sell off my dSLR 5dmkii and lenses and eventually get the 55-200....
 
If you could stretch it a bit you could pick up the 18-55 kit and then grab the free 55-200 before selling the 18-55 on?
 
Depends if you like mainly primes or zoom lenses, personally i think my 18-55 + 55-200 setup with a 14mm for the wide angle stuff suits my style of photography.
I dont think there is a great deal of real world difference between the Xe1 + Xe2 in IQ.
The Xe2 has a better rear screen and is slightly better at tracking moving targets.
As an ex 5D2 owner i dont miss it at all i had the 70-300 L lens which was superb on it and i have to say the Fuji 55-200 matches it in sharpness and is a hell of a lot smaller and lighter too.
 
Cheapest place i have seen uk stock for the Xe2 + 18-55 with free 55-200 is at Great Western cameras in swindon for £979 if that helps
 
My free 35mm turned up today :-) Happy bunny.
