Viewers (in the UK) are required to be in possession of a TV licence for viewing programmes as they are being broadcast. It is not our job to police such issues, neither do we hold any personal information that would enable anyone else to do so.

If you are watching recorded material like BBC iPlayer then it's ok but live streams do require a licence AFAIK
 
tried to sign up, no activation email or anything and login info wont work without it...meh

IIRC the TV licence actually states the PC as a peice of equipment that can receive TV signals and is therefore subject to being licensed.

I'll check if i can be bothered to get off my arse!

Yup, you need a licence 'To use any television receiving equipment such as TV set, set-top box, video or dvd recorder, computer or mobile phone to watch or record tv programmes as they are being shown on tv'

That's live streams too or even if you record them.

there's no way the tv license man is going to be able to prosecute you if you have a pc in your house and no tv.
they visit my mate all the time because he doesnt have a tv (and therefore no license) but he does have a pc and they've not prosecuted him.

might as well say that you need a tv license to have a pair of eyes

But, they cannot prosecute you for having a PC just because there are websites which allow you to watch streamed media. They would have to prove that you had used the sites and therefore needed a license.

It's like saying that having an electricity supply to your house means you need a TV license, simply because your house has the ability to have a TV working there....
