Yes
I have been having some major dust issues with my camera, after paying out for a rocket blower, artic butterfly and sensor swabs and cleaning fluid I took it over to John Lewis.

The staff it has to be said were very, very helpful:thumbs: and after checking my camera informed me it was on the focusing screen cue me try to clean it off the focusing screen but with limited success-there were a few bits I simply couldn't get to I decided to take it to Jessops for clean ( I want a clean sensor for my sisters wedding) they were next door to useless and told me to go to somewhere I couldn't even find as it would be cheaper than sending it back to canon.

I then went back to John Lewis  more helpful staff who after a few phone calls discovered that canon clean them free of charge if the camera is still under guarantee.

Just thought that this might be some helpful info for canon camera owners!

Still saying nuffink!!! :D

Thanks for the tip NQ - think it has been mentioned before somewhere, but always good to be reminded :)

lol @ Janice

I believe they will do it once under guarantee, and then subsequently will charge.

Not sure if this is still the case though.

Cheers,
James

I wonder if it has to be sent to Canon's main repair centre or they will do it at one of the smaller camera repair centres, because I have one 10 mins away that do the camera repairs.

Yes it goes to the main canon repair centre, had wondered moos3h how many times they would clean it for you.

Janice even if they had charged you to clean it it would still of been cheaper than wrecking it!!:suspect:   :bonk:

You're right there!!! :D

I am wondering how long does it take to come back roughly, I am guessing roughly as long as it takes my passport to come back-ages!! :runaway:

Is there a phone # to call?

I will help you best as I can on this one.

I took mine into John Lewis's in Newcastle and they sorted it all out for me.

How they discovered this piece of info was by ringing the repair centre which I believe is on the canon website and it was then was they established that because it was still under guarantee it was free and sent it off for me

Here's the repair centre number 08705 143 723

Hope this helps.

Thanks Wanda for your help.

P.S: I believe Janice do "do" an excellent sensor cleaning too   and I am sure she will do it as a favor :D :D to all tph members

Does that apply to ALL Canons in warranty or just those ones with a sensor cleaning function? Dust on 400D shouldn't happen right?

From what Canon says about 400D, it has a built in sensor cleaning system.

But getting your Camera serviced "if possible" within the warranty period will only do good to it.
