For those who would use a phone whilst driving

Just like shooting fish in a barrel ;)
There was a short clip on that motorway workers program last week where the filmcrew actually picked up people filming an incident on the other carriageway, hoped they passed on the footage

We dealt with such situation before the mobile phones.
Yes but only because we had to, we didnt have the technology or the choice back then, its called a choice, unfortunatly some people make the wrong one, me, well i have bluetooth in the car and can honestly say ive never ever used a phone in a car before that

It also used to take 6 weeks to get to Australia before commercial flights, we all use whats available to use just some dont use it sensibly

As an aside, the one thing that annoyed me about this video is the fact that nearly EVERYONE had their phones set to ring whilst in a cinema. Can't they just put them on vibrate and leave the real world for 90 minutes?

Sadly, this vid will only affect a small handful of people. Fines have done nothing to curb the use of phones whilst driving here, as have videos like this. I doubt there is really anything else that can be done by the authorities?

Yep that caught me as well,it as those theses days people life's are so meaningless unless they know their latest status on facebook or Twitter :(

I somehow doubt my ex wife would be calling me, she's not my daughters mother!

I'd deal with it the same way I did for the first 35 years of my life, by getting the message when I am not driving, either at home, or by way of message to where I work.
The same way my family dealt with it when my mother died. The same way my parents dealt with it when my grandparents died......In one of the cases we were living abroad at the time. Oddly, the message still got through to my dad, in spite of us not having any form of phone.
The same way millions of people have dealt with approaching death over the years.
What you are describing, apart from being melodramatic, is an unlikely scenario, and doesn't justify danger to other road users.
Besides, like it or not, if you used a phone in those circumstances it's illegal. You might have mitigation, although as you can't have known that before you used it, but thats all.
abusive and silly remarks don't help your case.

You say that fining hasn't had an effect, but it's difficult to say that one way or the other. Like drink driving, speeding, going through red lights, they all still happen, but how much of it would happen if no one was ever fined or prosecuted for those offences?
The problem is, people think they are above the law when it comes to traffic crimes, although they will happily condemn any other thieves, even though they will then leap in a car and commit criminal offences without a thought to it.

A lot of it I guess is down to peoples perception though,
many wouldn't think twice about using a works phone, in works time, for a personal call,
or picking up a couple of pens on the way home.
Both are theft, but of course they would also condemn a shop lifter, no doubt.

Well, if you will add things while I am answering your earlier point, I didn't see if as necessary to read any further drivel from you.
People don't ring my mobile for a very good reason. I don't own one. I seem to be one of the few people on the planet that doesn't need to live my life in everyone else's pocket.
Hopefully, the Government will make any use of mobiles in cars by drivers illegal. It certainly wouldn't surprise me, given the general publics lack of ability to aim a car safely even when not yapping on a phone.
