Scott, that's a stunning shot... What a stare.. nearly didn't see the rest of it... and I do have to agree about the comment, she does look a little like the new Dr Who assistant. I have to agree on the comment about a little more DOF to bring in the earing... it's clear enough to want to see it sharp...
 
Lovely stare shot! Really lovely eyes I agree with Phil a smidgen more dof focus would have been good just to get the earring in focus but that is being very picky :) :thumbs:

A slight twist on the theme with probably more thought behind the shot than the shot itself.

This week I chose to interpret the theme as 'At Peace' with the subject my first dog 'Stella'. The day I found my first and current house I also found my first pet, a lovely German Shepherd puppy I named Stella. The day we moved in I picked her up and from that day she ruled the home until sadly we found a lump. It was removed but came back quickly and the sad decision was made and she was put to sleep at home(I'm filling up just typing this and it was 8 years ago) We buried her in the garden and found a Cherry tree called Stella, my shot this week is her view looking up at a lovely summer day through the Stella Cherry tree.

That's beautiful Scott.
The shot in its own right is gorgeous, but combined with the story it has extra meaning for the theme.
In fact it brought a lump to my throat - we had our oldest dog put to sleep 18 months ago.

I love the way that the light is filtering through the blossom and the focus on the more distant flowers really works to make you feel like you're peering through the branches.

Thank you for the link to the Goth weekend too - some really interesting shots in there. I particularly like the ones taken in the cemetery. The location gives an extra bit of atmosphere.
 
Scott, the sentiment behind your image for peace is very touching and poignant.
To the image itself, I think it is perfect. I like the composition and viewpoint you have chosen here, it draws ones eye in and through the cherry blossom to the bright blue sky beyond. A simple but very effective image that works all the more for your thinking behind it.

December 2008 I bought my first DSLR, a D60 twin lens kit. A little over a year later the D60 is gone and my kit has expanded dramatically, which makes this weeks theme very easy although I had to use the camera on my phone as everything else is in the shot.

Nicely laid out, and pretty good quality for a camera phone.

As has already been said Scott, not great in quality but it is from a phone...

But, this fits the theme best of all entries this week for me, good thinking and well laid out!!

I ought to show my Mrs this pic, she might realise I dont spend that much on my gear....

As a matter of interest, how much do you use the S5Pro compared with the D300? I've still got my S3 Pro and find I'm not using it a lot, but in good light, it's a great camera, especially for portraits, and being a crop sensor it gives me a little extra reach. I just wondered what criteria you use for choosing between yours?

It's alright having all this kit if you know how to use it :thinking:. I agree this weeks shot is more the subjects than the photo and I don't know anybody local with a spare D3S :love:

Thank you Sue, I will admit Stella is not alone in the garden we have had many small pets over the years and they all have a resting place.

Just catching up on your 52........ "Peace" is a great shot, made more so by the story behind it... It's always sad when a member of the family departs...........

Ingredients does nothing for me this week as I can imagine lots of spices in everybodies shots so I'm going with re shoot. This is a shot from my first race meeting of the year at Oulton park for the BSB's

Heh, I know what you mean. Ingredients did nothing for me either.

I know nothing about motorsport photography, but that's a cracker and really does convey speed with the wheel off the ground like that.

That's a cracking Candid too. Really like the catchlight in the eyes. It's just a shame about that white frame running down the LH side of the shot which is a bit distracting. Not a lot you can do about that with a candid shot though.

Good stuff. Nice, bright and sharp.

Excellent action shot... on one wheel at an awkward angle too... spot on capture... and a really good candid too

Hmmm Isolation, didn't seem too hard of a subject but didn't get the time I would have liked to go and shoot something new. He is a panoramic from a visit earlier this year to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with my wife looking slightly isolated :D
