Scott, that's a stunning shot... What a stare.. nearly didn't see the rest of it... and I do have to agree about the comment, she does look a little like the new Dr Who assistant. I have to agree on the comment about a little more DOF to bring in the earing... it's clear enough to want to see it sharp...

Lovely stare shot! Really lovely eyes I agree with Phil a smidgen more dof focus would have been good just to get the earring in focus but that is being very picky :)

Very good stare shot, well done

Cheers mate!

Thanks John, I was in shallow DOF mode that day.

I prefer the first pic. Very pretty lady and good interpretation

Thank you Sue.

Exotic and fits the theme perfectly. Lovely use of DOF.

Thank you

Nothing wrong with being picky, thank you.

A slight twist on the theme with probably more thought behind the shot than the shot itself.

This week I chose to interpret the theme as 'At Peace' with the subject my first dog 'Stella'. The day I found my first and current house I also found my first pet, a lovely German Shepherd puppy I named Stella. The day we moved in I picked her up and from that day she ruled the home until sadly we found a lump. It was removed but came back quickly and the sad decision was made and she was put to sleep at home(I'm filling up just typing this and it was 8 years ago) We buried her in the garden and found a Cherry tree called Stella, my shot this week is her view looking up at a lovely summer day through the Stella Cherry tree.

It's a poignant shot that really has a whole new meaning with the story.

I really like this.

Very nice.

Ian.

God, that's sad, but beautiful. Really touching, mate.

That's beautiful Scott.
The shot in its own right is gorgeous, but combined with the story it has extra meaning for the theme.
In fact it brought a lump to my throat - we had our oldest dog put to sleep 18 months ago.

I love the way that the light is filtering through the blossom and the focus on the more distant flowers really works to make you feel like you're peering through the branches.

Thank you for the link to the Goth weekend too - some really interesting shots in there. I particularly like the ones taken in the cemetery. The location gives an extra bit of atmosphere.

Scott, the sentiment behind your image for peace is very touching and poignant.
To the image itself, I think it is perfect. I like the composition and viewpoint you have chosen here, it draws ones eye in and through the cherry blossom to the bright blue sky beyond. A simple but very effective image that works all the more for your thinking behind it.

The image is perfect, Scott, and the story behind it reminds me of every dog I've lost - you never forget them. :)

Jean

Thanks for the kind comments and a big hug to all who have experience the loss of a pet

stare is superb! what a stunning young lady, love the lippy debate :) the focus on her eyes is fabulous scott

wonderful sentiment in your peace shot, lovely blossom and a nice tribute to stella

December 2008 I bought my first DSLR, a D60 twin lens kit. A little over a year later the D60 is gone and my kit has expanded dramatically, which makes this weeks theme very easy although I had to use the camera on my phone as everything else is in the shot.

My Kit...Velbon CX640 tripod/Manfrotto 681B monopod with 486RC2 head/Tamron SP AF Di 90mm Macro/Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8/Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX/Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX/Sigma 1.4 TC/Nikon 35-70mm AF/Nikon D300 + Nikon MB-D10 grip/Fuji S5Pro + Nikon MB-D200 Grip/Quick-stap/2x Tp Optech straps/Fitp Flash cord-wireless shutter release-wireless flash trigger/Lens pen/Rocket blower/Nikon SB600/Lowpro Orion trekker II backpack/Lowpro Stealth reporter 400AW/Lowpro Lens cases 2S-3-4/Panasonic HD camcorder.......and in a few weeks time a load of studio lighting gear.

That is a lot of stuff there Scott.

A lot of stuff....

My indulgence this week was a bit of welding glass...

Nicely laid out, and pretty good quality for a camera phone.

Good stuff!

Ian.

As has already been said Scott, not great in quality but it is from a phone...

But, this fits the theme best of all entries this week for me, good thinking and well laid out!!

I ought to show my Mrs this pic, she might realise I dont spend that much on my gear....

I love the sentiment and the picture for "Peace".I have a couple of dogs buried in my garden. I think the theme for your photography kit should be "green" because a lot of people on here will be green with envy.Definitely indulgent though.

Thanks you for the group hug, Scott. :)

Indulgence: Now that's what I call indulgence on a grand scale. And I'm not in the tiniest, smallest bit jealous. ;) It most definitely fits the theme. :)

As a matter of interest, how much do you use the S5Pro compared with the D300? I've still got my S3 Pro and find I'm not using it a lot, but in good light, it's a great camera, especially for portraits, and being a crop sensor it gives me a little extra reach. I just wondered what criteria you use for choosing between yours?

Cheers Ian, I first tried my daughters P&S and then the phone and there was little difference in quality.

you sure know how to indulge yourself !

With alot of help from the boss!

Nice load of kit there Scott, definitely been some indulging going on there!

Cheers, but once you start it's hard to stop.

Well that is certainly VERY indulgent!!!!
Makes me feel a bit sad about my lack of kit :(

For a camera phone it's not bad quality at all, although I don't think that's really what this shot is about anyway.

It's alright having all this kit if you know how to use it . I agree this weeks shot is more the subjects than the photo and I don't know anybody local with a spare D3S

Cheers Dan, for a shot on a phone I probably put as much effort into this shot with the lay out as any of my others.

Thank you Sue, I will admit Stella is not alone in the garden we have had many small pets over the years and they all have a resting place.

Behind every man there is a great woman....I have one :D

Thanks you for the group hug, Scott. :)

Thank you Jean and  to your  you have a D700!

Peace, a lovely shot, made all the more by the story that goes with it.

Indulgence, my word... you have been indulging haven't you... nicely laid out and well done with the phone.

Scott,

Just catching up on your 52........ "Peace" is a great shot, made more so by the story behind it... It's always sad when a member of the family departs...........

Indulgence.......... wow what a load of kit! Clever idea... but just what are you going to post when "Obsession" comes up???:lol::lol:

Ingredients does nothing for me this week as I can imagine lots of spices in everybodies shots so I'm going with re shoot. This is a shot from my first race meeting of the year at Oulton park for the BSB's

Speed

A second shot from the same meeting in the pit lane.

Candid....Tommy Hill signing autographs

Heh, I know what you mean. Ingredients did nothing for me either.

I know nothing about motorsport photography, but that's a cracker and really does convey speed with the wheel off the ground like that.

That's a cracking Candid too. Really like the catchlight in the eyes. It's just a shame about that white frame running down the LH side of the shot which is a bit distracting. Not a lot you can do about that with a candid shot though.

Good stuff. Nice, bright and sharp.

Ian.

Excellent action shot... on one wheel at an awkward angle too... spot on capture... and a really good candid too

Two superb shots there!:clap: Not much else I can say really

Thank you!

Nicely done

Nothing too hard for me for this one STOP my brake lights.

Scott, that is very different ... an unusual take and a nice idea. Strangely, with all that black in it, it works...

Reshoot: I know nothing bout bikes, but this looks a cracking good shot with all the thrills (and imminent spills?). Love it!

Stop: Hehehe - this made me smile and I would have had to think about what it was if you hadn't said! I agree with Sonia and John - the black works well with the UFO!! :D

Jean

Nice idea!, looks like a UFO :)

Thanks, I was thinking Cylon ;)

Cheers John, the hardest part was getting the right amount of black.

Hmmm Isolation, didn't seem too hard of a subject but didn't get the time I would have liked to go and shoot something new. He is a panoramic from a visit earlier this year to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with my wife looking slightly isolated :D
