Oh I dunno, I currently am at number 3 with another shot.
Only reason I say it is because since I've had the two in the top ten I've had pictures with more comments and likes that haven't didn't get in explore if that makes sense....Before they were getting in with say 10 comments and 10 likes but now I'll get say 15 likes and 15 comments but they won't get in...
Am I the only one who doesn't see the importance of an 'explore' on flickr?
(not trying to take away anything from the OP of course)

Me neither! But I don't play the 'game' of flickr

Would love to know what the "game" is.![]()

Your 'My most viewed photo on Flickr yesterday......... ' thread is a great example of trying to play the game. Create a massive thread, post tonnes of your images in it = increase flickr exposure and boost flickr explore rating.
I am not having a go at you personally, but the explore page of Flickr bugs me as it is an ego booster for people who like to collect internet points IMO
I don't really get the whole mentality of those that are desperate for views and comments I don't really get the whole mentality of those that are desperate for views and comments![]()
Their mentality/character would generally be attention seeking and insecure.
Maybe they are on Flickr while they wait for their acting career to take off.
that's made me smile, the really sad thing are the people that use software algorithms and the like to auto favorite or auto comment
When I first signed up to flickr it was primarily to allow easy showcasing of images on TP.
Since then I have made aquaintences/contacts.
I don't comment on all there work but I do peruse it through "recent activity".
If I get any comments or favourites I'm happy, though personally It wouldn't bother me if I didnt. I still use it primarily as a means of sharing images.
As for explore, don't know how it works, don't know if I have ever been in it, not really fussed if I are or arent![]()

Uploaded a pic of a short eared owl early today 270 views so far today, 72 favourites. What's this explore all about?
Does it mean its a good pic?
In who's opinion?

Perhaps they should have some mods in there to filter out the dross.
Bah come on guys.
What's the point of Flickr? And explore? It's exactly the same reason why some people enter competitions, print our images and hang them on the walls. It's even the whole bloody reason we take photos in the first place.
It's for the fun. It's because we enjoy it.
Sharing photos on Flickr is enjoyable, getting comments back and getting "explored" are all part of the harmless enjoyment of photography.
It doesn't have to "mean anything". And its not "pointless" either. Stop being so serious.![]()
Because posting a photo on here takes a fraction of the amount of time it does on flickr to add a photo to 40 different groups.![]()
